has a JDM turbo engine Swap been done....

Its a great motor, i love driving my budds s and id love to drive a 88hatch with a k20 motor in it aswell :P.

What id suggest for those civic fans out there, is to buy a civic sir 98 ish and drop in a jackson super charger (ughdance). I think my buddys ran a mid 13 /w slicks. it had some other minor work but it was a good bang for the buck.

Yeh, those motors are mad expensive. Down here, still close to 9-10k for a complete swap.

Well the JDM motor you are probably talking about, the 170HP one, has different compression ratio, higher i beleive maybe I could be wrong. And different Mani's its small difference but which can be bought off of Corksport.com to "make the swap" without important the engine I beleive. Good luck and be safe!

ive also heard that the fs-de was used in a kia small suv as a rear drive and made 170... was this beast the ze in america?

That wasn't the FS-DE that was the FE3, or a detuned version of the FE3 if i remember right.

I found it on my own. It looks the same as the MP3 but with the 170 hp motor.

Yes the Mazda Protege MPS...

The FE3 is an amazing machine. And yeah, it is in the kia sportage :P

I don't think there were any transverse mount applications of it, sucks.

I read a nice site where a guy swapped the FE3 into a miata .. let's just say the FE3 has rods beefier than the holy grail of little Japanese 4-bangers, the SR20DE.

I think the guy with the FE3 miata is on this forum, if I'm not mistaken. But he put a SR rod beside a FE3 rod. To say the least, the SR rod looked like a twig compared to the FE3.

someone should find a way to get that fe3 in a pro...

beefy rods... exactly what we're all looking for... lol

There are 2 probe guys in my area with the FE3 swaps. And they are QUICK!

But I would love to see someone attempt this in a protege. I considered it before I got the SR, but it was out of my budget and ability.

^^ whoa whoa.. if it can be done in the probe it shouldn't be alll that much different in our cars. Maybe we just don't have room for it.

sound sliek someone needs to try this and let the masses know...

somone with lots of money... that kicks me out.

I don't think "not enough room" is an issue, just an option nobody ever considered. I did a good deal of research about that motor in a protege 3-4 years ago. Can't remember half the crap I looked up...lol And I don't seem to have the links in my archives anymore :(

I got the majority of my info from the MX6 and Probe forums. They helped A LOT and know there stuff. And I think "TheMAN" also.

Is there anywhere online that you can purchase ZE heads or parts from the head??

None that I know of. The only part I think you can purchase are the cams from CorkSport.
