Hard Pipes

I have had some hard pipes made up for my MSP. They are stainless, were mendrel bent and tig welded. I went down to check them out and while the outside looks really clean (ground down and polished) the inside of the welds are still rough and gritty....how should they look when they are finished? because I got the feeling that this guy felt they were done until I mentioned it...he told me that they would be cleaned up...just wondering what should pass for 'cleaned up'....its been a month getting the pipes this far (screw ups on his end), I think that he just wants to be done with the project and I'm getting the vibe that I am going to wind up getting screwed somehow...hope not.

There is not a whole lot you can do about the way the wled looks on the inside of the piping. If the pipes were fitted together tightly then there shouldnt be much of a weld showing through.

Not neccessarily...I wouldnt sweat it too much...It is a custom job..you have to remember that.

I am mostly worried about the grit coming loose and getting into the engine and turbo...I suppose it just gets a scrubbing then?

Were you referring to the welds or are they just generally dirty for polishing compound inside. If they are just dirty then by all means ,clean them out.

Matt

no, it's not polish, it's 'slag grit'. when I rub my hand along the uncut, unpolished weld something like a coarse sand comes off.

I am thinking that he shoiuld get in there with a dremel and clean them up....it would be better for both airflow and my piece of mind
