Whats up everybody? I burnt a hole in my halfshaft outter boot recently and last night the temporary replacement crapped-out. I have searched everywhere and all parts stores dont even show a listing on a part or even halfshaft, and mazda wants $75 for just the boot!!! Anyone know where I can get one? Please help!

half shaft meaning your inner cv boot? your outer cv boot? perhaps I'm misunderstanding you, but if its your inner or your outer cv boots you can take a measurement of the spindle and the cv housing and go to auto(trash)zone or advance and get one for like $20 with all of the bearing grease.

but yeah, i'm gonna have to ask how as well?

the reason you cant find it is you dont know what its called! its a CV boot (constant velocity, for constant velocity axles)

ok, heres the story:
I bought new KYB E-spec struts for the front b/c the Ground Control coilovers were making a ton of noise and about to go out, so the e-spec struts require new sway bar end links. When i went to remove the stock end links i stripped the bolt on the back side. I broke them off and drove to a buddys house where we used a cutting torch to heat and bust out the post of the bolt. In the process the heat from the torch (although we shielded the heat) managed to melt a small hole in the boot. I used another universal boot over it and zip tied it for temporary fix, but last night it was rejected and tossed out from under my car. So.... I went to mazda today and they are asking $75 for the boot, and autozone, oreillys, etc all say they cant get anything for it b/c they dont have a part #. I know the P5 is built on virtually the same platform as the Protege ES so we looked that up and cant get a part for even a 2000 (sounds like someone needs to update their parts). So Im looking for the OUTTER CV BOOT (FOR A P5) and need one asap, anyone know where to find one that is for a MP5? Not that universal crap that never fits right!

There are no aftermarket axles available for the 2001 and up Protege, other than the beefier units like I have. Neither are the boots. I looked everywhere. You could possibly make a 97 ford probe boot fit, or use a split boot which sucks, but other than that, looks like dealer.
