What's up guys....fellow 'Speed owner.

I called crutchfield and ordered a JL Audio 8 inch subwoofer, it is a 8W1-4 Ohm sub. I was surprised to hear that they are having a 2 for 1 sale. So, I have an extra one coming on Friday. Obviously I have use for just one, I will be dropping it in to the stock location as the stocker is basically dead at this point. It is listed as item #1368W14 on thier website and goes for 109.00. If anyone wants it, throw me 50 bucks for the sub and 10 bucks shipping. Let me know and I will ship it shortly after I recieve them.

Also, I have a simple question about installing the Alpine head unit I purchased. It is a regular single DIN size and I am wondering if I can mount this baby as the current Kenwood is that came with the car. Or do I need to use the pocket that crutchfield is sending me? Does this baby have to get relocated to below the pocket or can it stay on top? Thanks in advance for all your answers.

You can mount the Alpine unit in directly, you just need to remove the kenwood frame and install the one that comes with your new Alpine head unit. You also need a Mazda to ISO cable harness.

The "ISO harness" is just the wiring harness that plugs into the car and has wiring coming out to connect to the radio harness. You should be able to get the harness at almost any place that sells car audio. I have also seen them at auto parts stores here and there.

One thing to note with that Pioneer 4100 is that they usually don't come with a mounting sleeve to make installation easy. I also could be very wrong and Pioneer got their s*** together and are including the sleeve now but I wanted to make sure you knew about it in case. Good Luck!

okay that's what i thought. i went to the local audio shop in carlisle and bought a harness in case the one that came with the installation kit doesn't work. by sleeve, do you mean a dash mounting kit? because it came with one of those. crutchfield gave me everything i should need. <3

By sleeve I mean the thin metal piece that goes around the radio. It has tabs in it that you bend down to hold the radio in the hole. I think the 4100 comes with one so you don't need anything extra. Some of their older head units didn't for one reason or another.
