H&R Sport Springs?

I drive a 2002 Mazda Protege ES and I have a few questions about the H&R Sport Springs available for my car.

How long will your stock shocks last? If the stocks don't last long who makes aftermarket shocks and how much do they cost?

Where can I get the H&R Sports the cheapest? I found them on TireRack for around 200 but didn't know if that was good or not.

Also, is the ride okay with these springs and will I need an camber adjustment? And last question I swear, but can an "everyday joe" install these springs? If not, how much would a shop charge to do it?

How long will your stock shocks last?

Since H&R sport springs only lower your car 1.3" front/back, your stock shocks should last quite a while.

Where can I get the H&R Sports the cheapest?

If you are lucky, you may find someone trying to get rid of some on ebay for about $150. Retail on 'em is $289 so $200 sounds reasonable. Shipping is approx. $18 to most places via Fedex ground.

Also, is the ride okay with these springs and will I need an camber adjustment?

Yes, the ride is ok if not great. An alignment is in order after installing these to prevent premature tire wear. Camber adjustments aren't needed with these sport springs.

Anyone who is mechanically inclined can install these springs. If you have the right tools I'd say go for it but be careful and use common sense. Google search on some how-tos for the H&R install. Otherwise, consider spending about $90 for a competent shop to install them.
