Which turbocharger do you think I should buy?
Def not the t3/t4..it's way to big for a protege..that thing can make over 400hp..which a mazdaspeed will never get to!

Go w/ the gt28..or better yet...a bb t3!

t3 good for upto 350hp..give or take 10hp!

t3/t4 is good for a protege... I wish i had one :(

A GT28 will see you well into the 300 whp range. You don't need anymore than that. Well okay, you can always use more HP but, lets be realistic.

t3/t4...make some serious hp (laugh)
Not with out some emanage it won't. Who was that freak with a t3 in Austin and it ran like s*** , well for all the time and money invested.
It got smoked by Tease's MSP.
The stock turbo at 15-18PSI with some emanage, a larger IC of some type FM other otherwise, and an exhaust will be a very respectable little car. At least for me it will be. Yes, I know forged would be better but when it's out of warranty I will ponder such a thing.

that would be orangemsp...he was the first to put a t3/t04e on. but hey, if you can tune the car right and build the engine up right....and have the money to do it, i say go for it! :D. guess it all depends on what his goals are.

a t3/t4 setup would ne nice, but you need a new manifold, wastegate, alot more fuel, engine management to make it run correctly.

Get the t28, but hell id do the engine tuning 1st.
The stock turbo will be good into the low 13s with a proper tune and traction.

umm, what are your goals for the car? shouldn't you decide that before picking what turbo to upgrade to? you may not need to upgrade at all

The T3/T4 will lag sooooo much with larger compressor wheels unless it's equipped with the smaller .48 A/R wheel. and then you are still only going to make what the NEW GT28RS from Garrett will make all day AND it will fit nicely with our existing setup.

GO POTATO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to have about $6,000 to spend on my car soon. So, the price of the turbo doesn't matter that much. I can get a GT28 turbo for $895 and T3/T4 for $595.

fmic, engine management, forged internals, turn the boost to 15psi and get some radials. and if you aren't happy with that, then get a bigger turbo.

like mp5jeff said......
FMIC, Engine Managment, Stand Alone Fuel system, Forged Internals, 15 PSI, Disco shooter....and a whole lot of fun to go with it.

good call, that'll take you to around 6k. also probably want bigger injectors and fuel pump
