so i'm installing my hiboost kit.... (i can hear trav naggin me already - "about time!!" yah yah i know) and i'm getting ready to put in the oil feed line... i go to tighten the blue aluminum adapter piece that attaches the oil line to the housing...... guess what.. i barely tightened it and yet somehow managed to shear the top piece right off the bottom piece!!!!! I'll post a pic of this.....(when i'm done the install)

this, ladies and gentlemen is why you are extrememly carefull with those pieces.. lesson learned... lol.....

needless to say.. my car isn't up and running.. yet.

I've not had a smooth install.... i've been thwarted at every turn it feels like... but then again... this is my first time installing a turbo kit and it's been relatively not bad.... i'm just inexperienced.. and that's the frustration i guess. If i had to install all by myself again it'd prolly go smoother as now i know what to get in advance.. hehe.

Mucho thanks to Pirana for his install guide though.... (i took some pics myself of things that i wish his guide had - maybe it can be made into a super guide.. lol) it was majorly helpful!!(bowdown)

Tomorrow i source that part out hopefully (yn) and have this baby running on the road tomorrow.

Arg, that sucks. Mopac should have that little fitting though. Give me a shout if you need me to pick up a few bits and pieces for you, seeing as how we are practically neighbours.

cool man thanks for the offer i appreciate it. luckily i have a diff car to get me around.. :)
mopac? i went past the place where they "used to be" today in hopes that i'd be able to ask. the place is now a home furniture store.. i think mopac moved out to surrey.. i'm gonna call the one on kingsway tomorrow and another shop i think might have....

went to a couple lordco's that didnt' have it. hopefully tomorrow my search will be fruitful!!

damn, things never run smoothly do they. better to get those things out early than later on I say. If something goes too smoothly, watch out. lol cant wait to see it up and running

Mopac has a huge new store right on HWY 1 at the 200th street turn off for Langley. It's a gear heads paradise.

yeh.. i'm headed out there in a bit...i phoned first.. the kingsway store said they didn't have.. but when i called the langley store they mentioned they had seomthing.. i better not drive all the way out there for it not to be the right part... lol

yes.... VERY CAREULLY and then had to use a magnetic piece to get any shards out... used some air to try to get it cleaner as well... it looks pretty clean...

dang.. mopac didn't have one..

luckily one of our members who lives quite close who also has the kit but isn't installing for a week lent me his... i still have to find one.. i'll prolly have to see what is available from like american street rods or seomthing... see if they can ship it in a couple days express or something. but at very least i (hopefully) will have it up and running today. (YN)

It's alive!!! so far so good!

Thanks Juan for putting up with my stupid questions!!! (cool)(even though i bought the kit used he still answered all my questions numerous times and made sure i did it right)

and thanks to another member for letting me use his adapter piece as mine's on the way. and to chriscrooz as well for swapping the cdm behemoth of a tank for his usdm one ;) (that way the ic piping would fit)

NIce work!!.. I too am a newb at the install. We had to recut and redesign every friggin intercooler pipe. But I found with a combination of drinkng, smoking and substance abuse it helps alot with the install.

Especially on getting creative with the piping.

thanks..... hehe....

wow that sounds like a bit of work!

this would have been a rather puritan install then...no smoking, drinking, or substance abuse... well.. coffee... (that count?) and you'd figure living in BC....(smoke) (shady) but no. lol

on a side note.... that older style hks bov that came with the kit - i actually like the way it sounds.. lol.. a little more bass-y than the ssqv.(no whistle)

Congrats on getting it running.

Gotta be careful with that wrenching. I found out how much force it takes to break a 1/4" drive socket just recently. Answer: not much.

Yes, welcome to the club! Things never go smoothly (or exacly like planned). I remember almos 3 years ago when I put this BEGi kit in. Took me 5 days by myself to install the kit.
