Grinding noise

Hi. recently my car is making a grinding noise. i checked around the underside of the car but there is nothing dragging against the ground. Then i realized the noise is coming from the rear driver side wheel. It wasnt as bad before but now its really loud and aggrevating. It sounds like 2 pieces of metal are rubbing against each other. It only makes a noise when i am driving or reversing but when stopped, no noise. Anyone have a clue to what it might be and if it is still safe to drive my car. Thanks.

it should be covered under warranty right...the only thing i have done near my wheels are painted my calipers...i didnt take them apart...i jus brushed it on...but mazda has already fixed my brake pads before and charged me cuz they claimed that they were taken apart when i painted them...so this time i could blame it on them right...hope u guys know what i mean...thanks for the help guys

Ut oh... I need to take mine in cause of vibration in the brakes, and I took it apart when I painted my calipers. You saying that they can deny warranty work because of that?!?!

The vibration is probley because your rotors are warped.. I have had a bunch of problems with my brakes, thats why i know alot of the answers.. The warrenty wont cover warped rotors no matter what.. Napa cut my rotors for $12 each, they feel brand new once you put them on.. The caliper comes off with 2 bolts then slide your rotor off.. end of story///, let me know if you need more detail?

So why wouldn't they cover warped rotors? I only have 7K miles, it's not like the car is old or anything. I think I might just go ahead and take it into a shop to shave them, cause going through mazda would be a hassle.

What about a bump in my tire? I have a bubble on the side of one of my wheels, and no apparent area of collision with a sidewalk or anything. Is that covered?

yup..they denied to cover it because they claimed that i took them off...i told them i didnt but they said well it seems like all the brake pads and other things are improperly installed...soo i couldnt argue it so i paid it...i hope they cover me this time

You should have said that it was done wrong thats why you have the problem.. and they installed it wrong..@!!! because that is why you have a problem

ohh sorry i left this out...they said i didnt get it installed from them according to there records and that i did it myself or got someone to do it...not them

Damn, now you got me worried! I don't wanna look like a fool going in there demanding that they fix my rotors and them saying that I painted my calipers and voided the job!

I dont think they will replace the rotors anyway.. The pads and rotors are very hard to warrenty the dealer told me. My rotors got warped after about 30,000miles and I got mine cut by napa for $12 each and they feel like new now

Well, I only have 7K miles... I'm going in for 2 things involving the brakes... the first being that they are warped, and the second for the horrible rust on the hubs. They better do something...

Coqui258,

You need your tire replaced. If you have a buble in your sidewall then that is an indication that the plys in your tire have seperated and that is a bad thing. Can be very dangerous at highway speeds.

Should be covered by warranty because that is a defect in the tire, not something you did.

Any way, Get a new tire ASAP.

Later Y'all

Bill

Thanks a lot!!! Another quick question... do I take it to the DEALER or take it to the manufacturer of the tires? I read in the warranty thingie that the dealership doesn't do the warranty... is this true?

Personally I hate dealerships. The sales department is your best friend until you drive off the lot with the a now used car.

Service Department has the attitude that you can kiss their Ass.

Now I'll get off my soap box. My local MAZDA shop took 8 days to replace the MAF sensor and tried to charge me for the rental car.

Any way back to your tire problem Coqui258 Call the dealer (don't waste gas on them) and see what they say.

Later, Y'all

Bill
