Thanks DAWIV. Found some info on the 2 versions. Sounds like version 1 (2 resonators) had smaller pipes and was as quiet as stock. I find my version 2 a little too boomy.

Hey MSMSP,

I just got this on my car a week ago actually. I do find it quite a bit boomier than stock though. I hope it breaks in and quiet down a bit. Did it get quieter for you after some use? THx.

what do you mean by boomy?

There is no way the SP2 can be considered loud in any way, shape or form.

I have the newer version with 1 resonator.

It didn't quiet down, it was quiet from the onset.

That's good to know. Maybe there's something wrong with my SP2 or there's a leak in the front turbo-cat exhaust section. Gotta get it checked out. Thanks for the info.

My wife noticed it too and she's not a car person.

New Greddy SP2

Hey. So I just installed a GReddy SP2 on my 02 Protege DX. I love the sound...not farty like all those little rice-burners with their $50 AutoZone mufflers. One problem I have already is that the midpipe isn't formed EXACTLY as the OE Pipe was and it is rattling against the heat shield on the fuel tank. Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any ideas on what to do about it? You can email me personally (I think I allowed that at registration) if you have any ideas! Thanks!

You have to let us know when you get it and how the install goes. How much was the total?

The install on this was cake. just two bolts to the mid pipe, two bolts to the muffler and off the hangers and the exhaust is out. really easy to do. A buddy and me did it under an hour with the car up on jack stands. sounds great, just buy new hangars because it gets vibration when driving.

Sure does. I put in some Kartboy hangers and things have been sweet since...(thumb)
