Gravel Noise

Hi everyone! Cool Forum! I've had my '07 MS3 since October and love it. I am concerned about the horrible noise gravel/salt makes in the wheel wells. Even coasting at 5-10 mph sounds like i'm throwing rocks through my fender.

Anyone else have this problem? Did mine not get undercoating or something?

This is a problem on all mazda 3's and mazdaspeed 3's. It gets quieter once the wheel wells get a good coating of dirt to insulate the noise. Some people have used a 3m product to undercoat the car but I am not sure of their results. The noise on my ms3 isn't bad compared to my 04 3, I was shocked the first time I drove over gravel.

I test drove a Speed and was knocked off my feet when I heard the gravel, I couldn't believe I hadn't noticed when i came in with my RSX to do the testdrive.

Checked on the way out, and the RSX didn't notice the gravel at all.

Ended up with a regular 3, and it was much quiter than the Speed, and I'm the only one who drove it .....
