GPS mount above dash

OK, so I'm going with my Garmin and a gooseneck mount to the windshield above the dash - anything but the TT in my humble opinion. And I'll put up with the power cord. I'm trying to anchor it alongside the GPS but can't find anything that will STICK to the dash material. And if it appears to stick, like backside of Velcro, as soon as it heats up it falls off.

Has anyone found anything that adheres to the rubbery dash material?? I'm actually thinking of stapling the Velcro to the dash. (uhm)

Have looked at all the other posts I think. I'm OK with my method and the visible cord - the question is how to get something to stick to the dash material.

I have this from Amazon: Zeikos IR-MAT36 Dash Mount Holder for GPS -Black.
No problems at all - the GPS never moves. And living in Houston we have plenty of heat and it's had no effect that I can tell.

I use simple wall tack. The kind you find in office supply stores. It handles the heat fine and cleans up if you move it. Roll a thin strand between your fingers and put it on the cord, then the dash.
