GPS DVD upgrade

Got an '06 speed6 with the 2005 navigation DVD, a few times I've had it navigation system not have sufficient information (eg didn't have certain roads or addresses, etc). (The system is a first gen, non touch screen) Is there a navigation DVD upgrade available?

I've talked to the mazda dealership and they sent me to Navteq who only seems to have the same 2005 DVD available via the online site.

Anyone been able find an updated DVD? 2006 or 2007 would probably be good enough...

Thanks in advance.

NAVTEQ is the only supplier of Nav Cds that will work on your OEM navi. If they dont have a updated one there is none available...

VRMS6 thanks for the reply. I emailed Navteq and received the following response: "Thank you for contacting NAVTEQ. Although Mazda uses our map data we neither produce nor distribute the disks for their systems. For information please contact your nearest authorized Mazda dealer." The dealerships as noted above seem to know very little.

Based on various reading and browsing of the forums I was able to find out that indeed there appears to be updated DVDs. It seems that mazda gives new models the updated DVDs while not trying to make money selling the updated DVDs which do work in the older models. (Yes, bad business I know). The part numbers of the newest DVDs are GP9A 66 DZO D and GP9A 66 DZ0 E. My guess is that the E version might be the DVD coming with the 2009 models.

The part number for the E model shows up at Online Mazda Parts

Happy upgrading!

I have the GP9A 66 DZ0 disk. No letters after. rev. 2005 ver.1

Sometimes when I know where I'm going and I have a little extra free time, I let nav loose just to see where it takes me. Majority of the time, it is the most mundane unthought out route that takes me in the least logical path to get where I'm going. Frustrating to say the least. I'm hoping with the update it will at least recognize a few previously uncharted roads.
