Got the rx7 home!!!

That undercoating type material in your engine bay around the perimeter is strange. I haven't seen it on any other FC's. Is it for corrosion protection?

Heat protection due to the fact the rotary runs so damn hot. The RX-8's have the same, but use a removable material.

If your talking about the black stuff, I think it's just part of the undercoating/rust-proofing job, also associated with those yellow plugs in the rocker and door pillar. They drilled small holes, inserted a wand with a spray head to coat the interior of the rockers and then covered the holes with those plugs. Typically covered all the seams on the firewall, strut towers etc. too. It was put on the car as a dearler "add-on" or the owner had it done by companys like ZEIBART. Messy by todays standards, but effective. And maybe partly responsible for why the car is still in such good shape.

Yes Signal you are right, it was undercoated and sprayed 1 month after the original owner bought it back in 1986, I found the paper work in the glove box, so I might be why its not rusty, the car was purchsed in New Hampshire in 1986, then shortly after that they moved down to Texas, so no real chance of sand or stupid salt on the roads in the big T. :)

Nice Find!

That car is clean, and well taken care of.(thumb)

I love it when someone finds a treasure like this.(cabpatch)

Makes me miss my 87 RX-7 Turbo II, I paid $5k for in 1993. It was just as clean, but it wasn't 20yrs old like yours.

Enjoy!

What have you got behind the seats? Rear seats, bins, or ???

They are tiny little seats that are impossible to get in and out of, no one ever rides in the car cept me, so I leave them folded down.

If you can snag them, consider going with the bins. I loved mine. Being a car audio enthusiast, it is extremely easy to build a completely stealth system with those bins, and make it look CLEAN.

If you ever decide to get rid of your rear seats, put them up on sale here. Hopefully by then, I'll be in a position to pick them up!

I've started to think that my next Mazda may be another FC, but I'll need the back seats this time, as I have a munchkin now. Even the tiny seats in the FC should accomodate a (short) two year old! Could you put up a pic of the rear seats sometime?

Congrats again on your aquisition! Looks like a great find! :D

Hows the FC doing?

Lol, I just happen to check this thread again.

My FC is doing ok, I am keeping it out of the bad weather and stored in my shop. I actually couldnt get it started a few weeks ago. Did a lot of trouble shooting, actually went through the entire Haynes manual chapter 4 of ignition and most of chapter 5 Fuel. I have never owned a rotary before and was learning as I went. But it fired up one day after work and I have been driving it since (when its nice out) :)

I put a stereo in and new speakers in the front and back and I going to change out my thermostat this weekend. New wheels soon too.

sweet :)

the 13b is prone to bad flooding w/ age/mileage. It can be due to leaky injectors, poor ignition or bad compression....

but they pretty much all do it lol

Ya I know evil, and that sux, I wish rotarys where as reliable as my old chevys are, lol.

He is a couple pics from this weekend chillin in my shop and I my CD player.

The last pic is my photoshopped skill showing sweet rx8 wheels on my FC, man I cant wait, and lowered it a bit too :)
