How can you tell it's "Rod Knock"? When I start my car, I hear some knock, but it quickly goes away. It's always done that since I bought the car. I don't hear anything while driving.

piston slap maybe?

Geez craig already on #2.

Build it up, then come let me take it for a spin so i know what a "real" msp should feel like.

Good luck with whichever route you plan to go.

so, i took my car to the dealer today, they looked at it and it turns out that ticking noise runs a little deeper that the head. So i find out sat. if its a valve in the head or possibly a wrist pin. If its a wrist pin i might as well get a new block. So for a head start what kind of blocks would you guys recomend?

A defective / improperly pressed wrist-pin killed my first motor. Short block had to be replaced due to cylinder wall damage...

Any chance for warranty? A faulty wrist-pin should be covered. That is, if you are below 50,000 miles and are pretty-much bone-stock and the car has no signs of abuse and you have all of your maintenance records and you are on good terms with your dealer. LOL, I guess you would just need a lot of luck. They don't seem to want to cover much on these MSPs these days.

It is not getting louder ATM, but Im not driving the car that much, and when I do, I hardly go into boost. I really cant do a thing ATM due to money situation. I gotta get my house bills caught up because the ex was incharge of that, and seemed to neglect them often.

Anyways, Ken, thanks for the offer, Im sure Ill be in touch. Ill be getting prices on machine work this week.

I feel your pain man. I had the same thing happen to my mp3 :( I bought a 2002 MP5 motor to stick in it, till I get my mp3 motor fixed up just right :D
