Time to replace the original RS-A to another all-season tire with better winter performance. I have heard good things about the Goodyear Fortera TripleTred but it does not come in stock size of 235/60R18.
My budget does not allow me to buy a new set of wheel rims so the TripeTred 255/55R18 is the closest tire I can find which should fit the stock rim - I have seen this size being discussed in this forum many times. This tire has an approved rim width between 7 to 9 inches so I think should be ok with the stock rim which has a rim width of 7.5 inches. Also, from what I can gather, the o/a diameter is also very close to original.
Being a novice, can someone (especially those who have replaced their stock size with this same larger size) please tell me whether:
1) The TripeTred 255/55R18 will indeed fit the stock rim safely; and
2) After fitting this larger (wider really) tire, there is sufficient clearance for the tire to go up/down and side/side - mine is a standard AWD version.
Also, any pitfalls I should watch out ? For me, safety and not performance is the main objective.
Thanks
