goodbye Mazdaspeed3, hello Mazda5

Greetings, just traded in my 09 MS3 GT for a 2006 Mazda5 Touring in WWP.

several life changes, including but not limited to a growing family, forced the issue of having to swap into a more practical vehicle. i am happy i was able to stay in the Mazda family, i've been driving nothing but Mazda3s since 2005.

it's got 77k miles on it, the exterior has some flaws but that's expected. everything works, anyway! i'm happy with the way it drives, it feels almost as nimble as a 3. i'm already familiar with the 2.3L engine from having a 3 so that's handy too.

so far my only complaint is that it's a bit noisy at highway speeds, but i expected that after my research. otherwise i think it's neat!

i think the first order of business will be to get it tinted. not gonna do too much else except upgrade the stereo system probably.

looking forward to getting to know the car!

Welcome, I find my 2006 is noisier with the summer tires. The winter tires is quieter and gives a softer ride.

i dread the day that i have to get a family car or one thats more practical. my only 2 rules in my car are 1) dont touch the radio and 2) no carseats/kids lol

haha yea i had a car seat in my car for a little while and finally decided to just bite the bullet and get something more family-friendly. i don't mind though. eventually my gf will be taking the 5 and i'll be free to get another fun car.

I went from a 3 to a 5 as well. I think Mazda did a good job of maintaining the feel of the 3 in the 5.

Welcome to the 5 family...I would think its a huge change from the Speed 3 but nothing beats the 5's practicality

thanks guys! yes, i love the way the 5 handles, it really thinks it's a 3. like a big dog that thinks it's small and keeps jumping on people's laps....okay not a very good metaphor.

oh and a couple pics...nothing done to it yet. gonna do 20% tint all around and hopefully upgrade the stereo soon. other mods will happen as i become more financially stable.

Definitely a car I wouldn't mind having. My father got a five a year or so ago, somewhat on my support from owning my 3, but mostly just on the comfort/space/features/price compared to everything else he was looking at. I love my 3 but every time I get in his 5 I wistfully think about having one too. Really the only thing I don't like about the five is that unlike the 3 you can't get the upper trim (and features) coupled with a MTX in the US.
