Don't hate on me. I traded the CX-7 on a new Mazda6. I'm sorry to see the CX go. It's a HOSS!

I'm still on the forum, just with a different ride.

I've got 11 (eleven) miles on the odometer.

A combination of reasons, none of which had to do with any flaws with the CX-7.

We had an 04 Mazda6 Grand Touring 5 door that we traded for the CX-7. It was the perfect car and the real reason for the trade was high mileage and going out of warranty. (54k).

My wife never got quite used to the size of the CX-7, and drove less often. I drove too often, and too hard. I always had a feeling of resentment when I filled it up too frequently, and with 93 octane, at that. We got restless. I guess I siezed the opportunity to trade while I could wind up with a lower payoff on the new car, and lower payments at the same time.

Like I said, I'll miss the power, but I'm back in familiar surroundings, and (as much as it has been discussed, I don't want to start an argument here) I feel the interior appointment of the six is more tasteful, and has more creature comforts.

If your happy then thats all that matters. Im about to tell the dealer to fix my knock or take it back! I get knock during light acceleration now sometimes. Ugh. ANyhow congrats on you purhcase

You should've waited 6 months for the redesigned 6 to come out. I have a feeling you will be kicking yourself when that 3.5L comes out with 265 HP and better mileage than the 3.0L engine.

Ha...54K = high mileage? Well it is for that short period of time. Where the hell do you drive to? Congrats on the new ride.

Funny, I did the opposite.....6-----------CX-7, well I did it for the safety & our 1st baby is due any day now.

SUV's are NOT inherently safer than cars. That is all.

I did the same thing too. Traded in my 05 M6 for the CX7, after i drove it at zoomzoom live, i really wanted the speed6, but my wife fell in love with the CX7. We both got what we want, since we needed the extra space for our one year old dog...:)

mixmasterlove: Congratulations to the new member of your family !!!(first)

G-Papi: Congratulations to your new M6 ...(glare)

Wow, surprised G Papi. I have always wanted the 6 as a sedan...actually the hatch 6 but needed a little more space for hauling my jewelry and son so the CX 7 fit the bill. I felt the 6 I was looking at was too much money and I got more car for the CX 7 for the same money. Cool ride though...what color and share pics in and out. Enjoy your 6 and keep us in mind! Oh and count me in now for the CEL light. I will wait and see if in a few days it goes out. I think I have about 3300 miles on her.

I also "upgraded" to the CX-7 from the Mazda6s hatch (V6). It was a good car but really, mileage wasn't THAT much better (17-18city, ~28 hwy), esp. when you consider the power difference and AWD. Since I'll be moving to Czech Republic nexzt year, where we often get harsh winters and the roads mostly suck, I decided to buy the CX-7 rather than bringing the 6 over there. Either way, I's pay a lot more money for a comparable car in Europe (esp. since I'll be exempt from paying tax and duty).

One thing I do miss is the smoothness of the V6, the engine in the CX-7 is your typical 4-cylinder... rather unrefined and raspy sounding.

Can't go wrong with the 6, congrats!

I have three kids, and they fit just fine in the back of my Protege5.

I would like a couple more seats, though. Wish the Mazda5 was 2-3-2 rather than 2-2-2. I'll be taking a look at the CX-9, but no manual and probably just too big for my taste.

Thanks for all the well-wishes. I miss the punch of the turbo, and the commanding view of the road. (The asphalt is a lot closer to the seat of the 6) Otherwise, I'm at home in the new ride, and happy.

I did get over 6k of mileage in the seat of the CX-7, so I hope I'll be considered qualified to visit the subforum from time to time just to add my $.02 worth.
