Protege 5
Does anyone know any good shops where I can find some quality protege 5 and MSP parts in Austin, and where a good place to have them installed is. I have a Protege 5 and my dad has MSP. We're looking for a good place to go look around and such.

I found a place in wells branch called MZM like behind those apartments by the dollar movies. You can give em a try but im not sure if they even work on protege's.I heard they mostly work on rx-7's though

UMMMMMMMM

Good shops in Austin?

Good question???

I have had issues with most of them:
Protech
MZM
Tybrid

To tell the truth, I used to go to San Antonio to get my work done!

But...in Austin...I just don't know any more!

Uh oh...

Haha uh oh... What went wrong... That's not cool.. You think Austin would have a lot of good car shops.

what went wrong....

well, lets see:rolleyes: :bs:
Ordering parts, seems to be an issue with the larger shops in Aus? Maybe the JDM (Honda) motor was throwing them off or they just dont know how to listen, but both MZM and PROTECH kept ordering the wrong part? Finally Protech came through.

But MZM kept telling me it was my fault and that i do not know what i am doing...so i got a truck, my tranny and the clutch (that they ordered) and had to drive it up to there shop to SHOW THEM that....OOPS, THE CLUTCH DOES NOT FIT, THERE IS NO PHYSICAL WAY!

Idiots!
They really pissed me off!

I have never been back to them.
Protech is alright but my friend just got 5grand worth of motor work and 1 week later, he has a problem.
so they fix it and then charge him 500
WHAT?

Anyway...my most recent issue was...well read my quote!
?you have a shop, a big shop, with plenty of room...why not put the nice cars with nice things inside the shop so that people dont break into your customers cars?

I JUST DONT GET IT...!

There is one shop in Austin that is awsome.
Performance-Motorsports

www.performance-motorsports.com

Chris is a great guy and one of the best performance mechanics around. I'm not sure what you need done, and i'm not sure what he will do to our cars but e-mail him or give him a call. He's pretty swamped right now, but give him a shot anyways.

DO NO TO GO TO PROTECH. I can't get in to the details publically but if interested people would like to contact me privately, I'd be more than happy to explain.

What parts do you need? PM me on here or AIM. I'll hook ya up.

Stuff I'm lookin for

Why, do you work for a shop or do you just have "the hook ups" Haha... I'll PM you with stuff I'm lookin for... Thanks

Yeah I don't know of any shops in Austin that have a good rep. or even a long history for that matter. There are a couple of Rotary shops there.... or they were. I know the story about Protech and like T3ase said DO NOT go there.

Hey Corky Bell lives somewhere around Austin. Find his house and ask him to work on your car.

I'm Looking for

Dual Subs
Dual Amp
Injen CAI
Kazera KZ-R Silver
Racing Beat Cat Back Exhaust

Of course I'm not looking to buy all this right now... But I mean in the future.. I just wanna know what kinda prices I'm looking at from you guys...

The injen..... buy online and do the install yourself.

Exhaust..... buy online and have a good muffler shop do it.

The audio stuff is also not hard to DIY if you have the interest if not T3ase can help you find a good installer.

This may be obvious but just in case...... NEVER use a shop that does AUDIO and PERFORMANCE. There may be exceptions to this rule but most shops like that are a joke.

Man, we can do all that you mentioned at my friend's house...

CHEAPER than any shop...

Between the turbo Escort, the beater Escort, the Cobra, the turbo CRX, the STi, the GS-T, the RX7, we got it covered as far as knowledgeable people...

These cars all get worked on from time to time here. The stereo thing will be the easiest (besides the CAI)

Order the stuff you want online or over the phone if possible, paying sales tax and usually higher prices kind of sucks...

yeah from what i've heard protech isn't any good for anyone. and i think that the people that work there are high on themselves. but thats just my opinion. as far as parts go i think the internet is your best option.

Vandetta Motorsports off of Lamar does good work. I'll have to get a real physical address and # for them. Tell Jessie that Clay with the orange Mazdaspeed sent ya. He *may* help you out.. He may not though.

Vendetta blows, i've heard nothing but very bad things from thier "work". (If you can even call it that.)

Hahaha.. Guess it's one of those things that if you know 'em, you get taken care of then... OrangeMSP and I both go there and have had zero problems.

Plus his old beater looking Mirage can kick some serious ass@!^#
