Good shops in austin?

Hahaha.. Guess it's one of those things that if you know 'em, you get taken care of then... OrangeMSP and I both go there and have had zero problems.
It sucks then if you are just someone that wants some work done, you get screwed over. They are shady as hell, and I wouldn't trust thier "mechanic" with and oil change (which is funny because they blew up a stock eclipse after the did an oil change).

I used to take my old Protege to Japanese Auto Tech in North Austin for normal maintenance and if I broke something. They are expensive but never ripped me off by doing unnecessary work. And when they fixed something it stayed fixed.
The last time I went there was a couple of years ago.

there is actually a good muffler and exhaust shop of burnet, my friend who has an MSP got his custom exhaust done there and hes been more than happy with it...i dont know what its called though haha but its off burnet PM me if you want any help getting there or what not

hey alex .. its drew. ya the place off burnet he's talkin about is muffin mufflers. the place is a little dump of a shop, but they did good work on my custom catback for a good price. the guy who did the work is a nice enough guy, but with the new emissions laws, he wont do any work with the cats - none. i wanted him to do a custom dp w/ hiflow, but he said even touching the cats is illegal. bah...true, but you just gotta *overlook* that...

Not what you're looking for exactly but worth sharing...
Soul Speed on N. Lamar

They specialize in high end alignments/wheel work but do some performance stuff. Someone said "Overqualified and underpriced" and I would tend to agree. A tue speciality shop that charges regular prices.

And Protech bent me over waaayy back in 1998 on a engine swap. Haven't been back since.

The owner, Bill, mentioned an open house in August.
"Free" and "Beer" were used in the same sentance.

I'll try and get more details.
