Good Deal? ETS MazdaSpeed 3 Blemished Intercooler?

Do you guys think this is a good deal? I just got off the phone with them and they still have this unit in stock.

I did a few searches and the reviews look excellent.

from what ive read the thicker core top mounts blocks some of the passage way.
In other words, we need a smaller core.. something like 3" or something

What you've heard = one person posting about it in regard to a TMIC under development that either he is helping develop or is being given one on the cheap for his help.

I'll stand by my own experience and say that I like my 3.25 TMIC from ETS. I felt solid gains from it. Does it block some of the cooling? Got me. Does it work? Indeed.

That price is good if you are looking for a 3.5 and want it black. If you don't, you're only saving about $40. IMO, that's an ok deal, but I'd pay the extra $40 for one that doesn't appear to have some welding boo boos.

It's probably one they sent to a customer, and the customer sent it back. I mean, why take the time to powdercoat a mistake?

I'm skeptical of anything reported by any company (or representative of that company) in regards to gains made on the car. I usually wait until the product hits the general public and ask people who have purchased these items what their thoughts are on them.

in regard to blocking the passageway:

It's been "reported" that anything taller than 3 inches will protrude above the lip inside of the hood causing it to block some air flow.

Secondly, if you do get the 3.5, look into changing your rear engine/trans mount. The 3.5 has been reported to rub the shroud.
