goin turbo

see thts what i figured cus just about everything on ebay is garbage but i simply cant afford the one on speed circuit however wont just adding tht block and head add alot hp? what else can i do in the mean time to add power instead of turbo?

For the FS engine you could do the basic upgrades. Like intake/ exhaust. But to get the most power you would want the turbo setup.

you are buying the engine and head from speedcircuit, but you dont want to buy their turbo kit?!? i dont understand that logic. and by the time you get that ebay kit, replace everything thats worthless, and add in a manifold and downpipe, you could have bought the speedcircuit kit to begin with.

i would think they might be able to work you a deal if you buy the whole engine and turbo kit from them as one package.

It will work out like this...

You will get the E-bay Kit... It will never get installed.. You will spend $1500 to get it installed, then it will fail..

you will part it out and buy a SC Turbo kit...

uhhh did u see the part where it says i cant afford it up there? haha i aint rich im def gonna get the speed circuit turbo kit just not right now its not like i already ordered the other kit or somethin i doubt they would give me a better price but it says they will put the block and such together for free

What he is trying to say is get the SC kit. (best turbo kit for the protege available)

And build the motor on the side. you should be able to run decent boost without harm. (given a decent tune)

But which ever way you decide I'm here to help.

so its not gonna detroy my block if i put tht thing on there? so if iget just the kit what else do i need then? ecu obiously new gaskets? in the long term after i constructed and added the block does anything need to be done with the transmission?

another worry i have is the location of the airfilter the sri tht i have now is in a bad spot too i cant hit any puddles or anything because itll suck tht s!#@ right up and its about to start snowing im in washington state

The kit comes with everything needed for install, gaskets an everything. The oil pan will need to get tapped for a drain fitting, and you will need sometype of engine management.

As for te intake it comes with both pieces to make it a CAI or SRI.

As long as you stay in the "safe" range (8ish psi) you should be good to go.

As for the trans, upgraded clutch kit, flywheel and LSD should hold you well.

Just to give you a heads up. I have put a turbo on my car and pieced it together with a few extras for about 5k. Running 8 psi and ahe pulls pretty good for a slow car. If you're going to look at buying a turbo kit for how many psi it says it will do you're not lookin in the right direction. Look at horsepower then figure out what will get you there. Psi doesn't make power because air is only half the battle. How you gonna put in fuel for all those many pounds of air? Not trying to work you over either, just make a goal and work back from that instead of putting a psi rating to your goals.

well i have an aem sri would tht fit with this kit? and for sure at 8psi the stock 2.0 l will handle it just fine? engine management? theres a couple on protege garage which one would work best?

im not setting my goals on it i just want to push 20-25 maybe prolly closer to 20

wow. just... wow.

so, again, you are buying all these fancy engine parts from speed circuit, and you dont want to buy their turbo kit because its too expensive?

lets see... $1000 on an intake manifold... $1300 on the cylinder head... $3300 on the engine... ~$700 for gaskets and bolts... $2000+ for a clutch and diff to handle all that mad powah... and you are not willing to pay the $3700 for their turbo kit?

seriously, if you haven't already, pick up the phone and talk to them. or at least get into an email exchange with "HKPRO5" on a package deal. or, better yet, figure out your power goals and work from there. you have an 2003 LX with the 2.0 engine already. as long as the engine hasn't seized, you can build it up for FAR less than buying a fully built engine from speed circuit, and use the money to get their turbo kit. if you are smart about your build, you will be much happier with the results.

um wow is the fact that he wanted to put a gt45 turbo on a protege. and run atleast 30 psi on a protege. dude do some research on this car. im gona say to just get a turbo and run 8 psi get it from speed circut. when you get the turbo kit get an ss afc. learn how to take care of a turbo car and tune with that set up before you forge a motor. if you do it the way your planing on with the intelect your showing your just gona blow it up research about how our cars handle boost and what goes wrong with them. do you even know about our bad oil pump or what to do that can fix it? research dude cause your seriously coming out like an idiot right now not to be a dick or anything just saying how it is. you dont even know that an intake kit will be completely different for na than it will be for turbo
