i agree but we can take California.......

i dont know, man. i was shocked when the angels lost yesterday. they are the most balanced team in the AL in terms of hitting, pitching, defense, bullpen, etc. maybe they were nervous? maybe they are going to choke? know knows.

Split.....as in go home.....will the Red Suckers get swept? I think they are too good of a team to get swept...but I'd love to see them get swept....

i had a bad feeling all day yesterday, like boston was going to win the game last night. im still shocked we won. ******* TADAHITO!!

Well after a glorious day one of the Playoffs, I am happy. But something tells me the Red Suckers will win tonight and the Yanks will lose...Buuuuut...the Red Sox will lose the series, and the Yanks will win theirs. After that? Who knows who cares...the Red Sox will be out of it and all will be great again....

wrong again!

yeah baby.......will see the sox next year! bye bye, have a nice winter!

Do any of you from Chicago area actually route for the White Sox on a regular basis? I've never seen Cominsky park as filled as it was last night. I felt like I was watching a game at Wrigley (almost). But things are nt looking good for the Bo' Sox. With their bats you can never rule them out though.

Except when their pitching blows it for them....this series is killing me. If there's one good thing out of all of this, it's that boston's young relievers look EXTREMELY promising. As much as I don't see us pulling this series out, it wouldn't be the first time we were about to be swept, only to come back and win every last game. *cough* yankees *cough* (poke)

yes some of do actually follow the white sox on a year 'round basis. let me break it down for people not familiar with chicago baseball:

white sox fans: blue-collar, hard working, loyal, devoted fans whom are willing to venture to the south side of chicago (not a friendly place) to see their favorite team play. we dont go watch the sox if they have a horrible team or arent playing up to their potential (2001-2004). when you go to a sox game, everyones attention is directed towards the field. we cheer, we boo, we get rowdy, but we love our team.

cubs fans: white collar, homo, casual baseball fans whom fill up a stadium year after year to see one of the crappiest teams in baseball. wrigley field has the worst baseball atmosphere ever. people hardly pay attention to the game. they are too busy yapping on their cell phones, typing on their laptops, discussing their jobs, or crying about how their team is cursed by a stupid billy goat. a lot of people that go to cubs games arent even baseball fans, they are only there because the place they work has season tickets and they somehow got their hands on them. one last thing: everyone thinks wrigleyville (the area surrounding wrigley field, consisting of mostly bars and some shops and restaurants) is so cool, but everyone that walks around there is always s***-faced. i guess getting wasted is the only way to cope with such disappointment year after year.

heres a similar view on my thoughts about cubs fans from a thread in the illinois section:

unlike cub fans, white sox fans dont buy into 'billygoat curses' and 'bartman jinxs' and whatever excuses cubs fans make for their team choking. if the white sox lose, its because they werent as good of a team as the one that beat them. no excuses. we dont happily skip hand in hand to the ballpark while our 'loveable losers' continue to finish below .500 year in and year out. wtf is a 'loveable loser'? there is nothing loveable about losing and white sox fans show it. if the sox dont win, we dont go to the games. its our way of telling them to play harder and get their heads out of their asses. meanwhile, wrigley fiel draws over 3 million 'fans' a year to root for their 'loveable losers.'

BTW, A-Rod nickname should be 'MR. APRIL-AUGUST' beccause he hasnt done jack in the postseason. $10 says that even though he is in the running for the MVP award, he will get booed tomorrow night by yankee fans.

bout that cub fans thing... my old man grew up in chicago and was a cubies fan, he spent his summers at wrigley field doin what he could to get bleacher tickets... granted this was 35yrs ago and things may have changed since then, but the memories he talks about wrigly and the atmosphere were nothing like what you stated...

people go to wrigley for the stadium and the drinks.

we go to comiskey for BASEBALL.

south side > north side. jose pretty much nailed it.

i hear you man. ive spoken to some older gentlemen who used to always go to wrigley field when they were younger and the way they spoke of it made it seem like a magical place. i was psyched the first time i went (2 years ago) to wrigley and i was very disappointed. its nothing the way they talked about it.

btw, notice he said comiskey, not us cellular field. a true white sox fan. i do however, like the nickname, "the cell." it makes it sound mean.
