GM going down?

there is a reason gm cars are lower quality though, expecially electrical wise, ex, toyota relay 50+ dollars a piece, they rarely go out, GM relay 10 bucks, i change at least 1 to 2 a week at work, they use cheaper lower quality parts, but still jack up the price to make more of a profit.

Quad 4 = DOHC 2.3L and later 2.4L
I know.

They also came with a 2.2L pushrod motor until the end.

Here is a link backing me up. Yaaaay pushrods!

BTW - a TON of female friends all own j-bodies, so when I say they are s***, I mean it. I have driven them all, and as the resident car guru in our group, they all come to me with the problems. Besides falling apart, the ergonomics/driving dynamics lick balls. Stupid s*** happens to them, like the radio numbers coming off after 15k. Sunroofs failing @ 20k, etc...etc...

When I saw the article, I hoped that my experience with them sent karma got GM and bit them in the ass. I bout one of their "Certified Used" 2000 GMC Sonoma SLS for my move from CA to FL. It had 17K miles, and I was told it was traded in by elderly gentlemen who got a bigger truck. 2 days after I bought it, the drivers seat recliner handle broke clean off at the pot-metal gear. Warrantied for 50K miles, I took it in. 2 weeks later, I was bumped at no more than 5 MPH in the right rear, sending the truck into the body shop for repair. $4200, and 3 weeks later, I moved to FL with that retched thing. The passenger seat recliner handle broke somewhere in <st1:state w:st="on"><st1 ="">New Mexico</st1> </st1:state>in a semi-reclined state, and my wife had to sit lowrider style for 3000 miles. Got to FL, drivers seat slides into dash as if I was adjusting the seat when stopping. Took it to dealer, new seat brackets and handles later, I am off. Over the course of the year and a half that I owned that hunk of low-quality s*** ass American crap, I was at the dealer 17, yes, 17 ******* times for the seats sliding into the dash when I stopped. I ended up making a 2 by 4 brace setup, as I could not keep taking it in, losing my only vehicle. I was at the dealer a few additional times for warranty repairs on defective brakes, alternator, driveshaft, something in the transmission, and a couple relays that fried. This was a 2 year old car, acting like a 30 year old car with 400K miles! When my wife and I got married in the time we owned the truck, my family rented us a car for our 200 mile trip for our honeymoon, as nobody wanted us driving it very far. I had over 20+ registered complaints with GM on my truck, as well as one of the hundreds of complaints about the seats sliding into the dash, and repairs not working. At 49K, I went in one last time for the seats sliding into the dash. I had one of the Raulersons (owners of the Raulerson dealers in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1 ="">Gainesville</st1>)</st1:city> sit in my car as I showed him the problem. He tried to tell me it was "within spec" and was not going to fix it. After some calm, collected, professional discussion, they fixed it one more time, for free. The very next day, I drove that ******* truck to the Mazda dealer, and got 2 Mazdas. I left the pile of complaint forms, as well as repair paperwork in the rear jack area, where I am sure they never unscrewed to clean.

Although one is a Ford Ranger basically, we have had our cars for 2 and a half years, and have not had a single problem with my P5, and only a radiator hose leak on the B3000.

That was my one and only experience owning a GM vehicle. It will be my last.

It's my story, as well as the countless others who had bad experiences with crappy GM cars, which has sent the company into a spin. I hope they do not close the GM plants. I hope that Toyota takes them over, retrains the personnel, and explains to the assembly workers what the whole "quality" thing is about.

way too much text. Cliff notes version!

Well, If I posted the short version, people would say I was just bitching about small problems with my GM car.

Basically, within 50K miles, I was at the dealer a ton of times for the seat sliding into the dash when I stopped. Other random s*** broke, and by the time I hit 50K miles, I was at the dealer 30 times or so for s***.

GM sucks, I hope they get bought out by Toyota and all the workers have to relearn how to do their job, or be replaced.

and did I say GM ******* sucks?

perfect thanks!

Anytime. It does make a good bedtime story, though!(yawn)

I did not know how long that really was, wow. Took only a few minutes to type, as my blood boils everytime I think about that ******* truck.

If GM wants to survive it will have to design and manufacture cars that are a LOT more competitive in terms of performance and styling, especially reliability. It's time they stop building what they THINK customers want and build what customers really want.

GM doesn't have to improve quality or come out with new products- people will still buy them because that's all they have owned and they don't like change. They do not realize there are better things on the market, and so GM does not have to improve. I'll tell you one good thing they are good at- making money, why redesign your ancient pushrod engines when you don't have to. GM has no excuse, even Ford and Dodge do not use pushrods anymore(with the exception of the hemi).

The big thing for me is the interiors of GM's cars/trucks. Even though they say that the materials, fit and finish, etc. are vast improvments over the older GM products, I still see them as lacking compared to the foreign market. In my opinion Kia and Hyundai have nicer interior materials and are put together better. Like mentioned before, GM won't ever go under just because of the following they have.
