GI on budget turbo kit

as Beau stated the SS FMIC would work with this budget kit if it used a T3, but I'm sure that would go for the GT28rs as well, BUT the manifold would be different because the GT28rs uses a T25 style flange and the T3 uses, well a T3 style flange.

Another question would a GT28RS fit on the T3 manifold or would you have to buy a new manifold to make it work. Also is this a limited time offer thing??? I think it would be sick if the SS FMIC could work on it.
The Street Sleeper kit runs the GT28RS.
No, the T3 and GT28RS hotsides are different.
If you see a T3 in the title, it means a T3 flange. If you see T2(ie 25,28,2871,etc) it means T2.

I see, so could it work on the The TDO4H flange since it's like a T25?

Great Idea...I remember my first turbo kit for my p5..was a non intercooled. t3 setup..i was pushing 8psi..with no problems..

And b/c i didn't have any ic..the turbo would spool up very quickly.

Laslty..i emailed you..my proposal.

Let me know!

great idea! i dont know about for autos though. The trannies werent meant for boost.

Im going to agree that offering an intercooler upgrade would be pointless unless maybe a small liquid-air would be built in. If you want an intercooler i would suggest just saving the money for the street sleeper.

I'd definitely be interested in this in the next year. I'd want something cheap, spools quickly, and won't blow up. I'd also want to be able to add an intercooler as well down the road, doesn't have to be FMIC. I also don't care about the smaller Mits turbo. Its a budget kit for people on tight budgets. People on tight budgets shouldn't be aiming for 200+HP anyhow.

then you wont need an intercooler down the road -- hehehehe

Think I could work this into my mortgage?

:D. Yeah, but I've never been a fan of a non-IC setup for long periods of time. Especially with an MP3 and advanced timing, I'd rather be IC. But for a short time, at 4psi or so, I'd do it non-IC for $1900, for sure.

With only 150 - 160 whp, it would be more cost effective to install water injection than an FMIC. I have a neighbor with a turbo-charged 350 boosting 17 psi with water injection and no intercooler. He's been running that for 18 years - that's longer than some of you have been alive! I know a V8 will respond to turbocharging differently than a 4 cylinder, and I know an intercooler will help produce higher power levels, but a water injection system can make a non-intercooled turbo setup plenty reliable.

This idea is a definate GO!....I would suggest having a poll to see who would want the td04h and who would perfer the T3....You would get alot of info.
I like the idea of the mitsubishi turbo...because there's alot of options and there cheap in $$$ to rebuild or upgrade if something is to ever go wrong.....

I'm also very interested in this kit for my automatic p5 and maybe sponsorship. :) (crosses fingers)

i hear ya --- the price is right :)

Definitely interested.

Can Beau help with these numbers (or someone who can make the necessary estimates)?

Budget kit with T3 - $1900
Engine management with MPITuner - $800 (?)
Intercooler from SS kit - $1000 (?)

I'm basically wanting to see what the cost of the SS kit with the T3 turbo.

I'm still reading (slowly) through Maximum Boost, so bare with me. What are the differences between the T3 and GT28RS with respect to spool up, peak hp efficiency and any other numbers that might sway me one way or another.

Thanks in advance!

I am interested. with the t3 turbo. As long that I can add the FMIC later down the road. Thanks

murda, you'd bet almost better off then buying the SS basic kit. The GT28RS is better than the t3.

OMFG I (heart) U MAM!!! I have been wishing and praying for a 'cheap' (read: bare bones but good quality) setup like this since, well since Spool stopped making kits... I am all over this once it becomes a reality.

I'm off to the dollar store to get a couple of plastic piggy-banks ;)

I'm having a hard time justifying (read: imagining how long it'd take to save) $4400 USD. I'm hoping to hear that the T3 equivalent would shave off a couple pennies.

Ideally, the kit I get would be moderately priced and have room to grow as funds allow. I don't want to buy a kit that is already at its best and not likely to satisfy me... as I'm likely to want to make it bigger and better when I get bored. :)

Hence, the ability to have the SS kit in stages would be a dream. To me, this T3 starter setup seems to have the stages somewhat available (as designed or by coincidence).
