Getting off 1st...what RPM?

when i drive normal, i drive like a wuss ! i am all the way off the clutch by 1000RPM. i try to take it easy as much as i can, because when i drive hard....it is harder than most others !

heh yeah, coming from a vw gti 1.8t to this is a little different. clutches are totally different and it took me some time to get used to driving the MS3. still does.

Launching in second helps in poor weather, but you have to ride the clutch a bit more. Not something I'd do on a regular basis.

what rpm are you launching in 2nd. i'm considering it with the new turbo setup (my clutch is going to hate me)

I would not routinely start in 2nd either. My car is not happy doing it unless I am already rolling or pointing downhill

If I am traffic limited as usual, I do the clutch throttle thing about 1000 and pull the stick about 2k. When you are just keeping up with with traffic, you can drive the MS3 like a diesel, upshifting every few car lengths. My shifting is MUCH smoother with the linkage mass removed.

just feather the gas and back off the clutch until it starts to grab. taadaa. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. away we go! lol.

i usually do the lowest rpms before the car starts to shake before it stalls. thats when i regular day to day launch

do you have a short shifter, enganear? see, i have no problems with the smoothness of my shifts (meaning of the actual gearbox), but i foresee there being rougher shifts when i get a short shifter when cobb's comes out. i'm thinking removing the linkage mass would be good when that time comes rollin by...

oh, and for regular driving, i launch around 1k-1.2k and then shift to 2nd gear at around 2.5k.

I like to get off 2nd....She always appreciates that...

General rule of thumb. If she gets off first, you get off more often.
