I used to pump Chevron Custom Supreme (100+ octane-rated the old way) for 31 cants a gallon at my after school job every day. That's all I would ever consider using in my 390 CI Galaxie 500. Frequently gas wars would bring regular under a quarter a gallon in the early 60s.In my life I think the cheapest price I can remember is around $0.78 cents for regular in '86 or '87. I also remember the red, green and yellow flags for gasoline availability in the '70's. IIRC yellow was for emergency vehicles only.
Lucky SOB's! In Brooklyn NY, I just paid $2.83. Gas is still pricey here...
Paid the equivallent of $6.47 / Gallon in a trip to Europe, + CC 'tax'.
That's not too bad. In the 1980's my buddies and I used to bring a few 5 gal. jerry cans to the local airport and fill them with 105 octane leaded regular for our high performance motorcycles. We paid $5.00/gal. which, adjusted for inflation, would be over $10/gal. today.
$1.83 per gallon of regular gasoline at a Speedway station in Valparaiso, IN yesterday. How low will it go?
