Gas Cap chipped paint

Word of warning, if it has not happend to you yet.

I filled up my tank and after I pulled the nozzel out, I see this chip in the cornerof my gas tack compartment. What I think it is from is how we have the gas cap attached to the car so it does not fall. Well I think the gas nozel must have rubed up agaimst that and chipped my paint.

I was, and am very upset. I will see if I can get some touch up paint tonight. I thoung my first chip would be in the front of my car, and some one opening the car door and hittiing mine. Not something this stupid.

Question, do you guys still have the gas cap attached??? Im thinking of taking mine off now.

I just needed to vent, thanks for "listening".

not only did i "listen" i hear ya!, i think its dumb to have the cap floppin around, and was also thinking of "cutting the cord",ehhe, but i found a chip right in the front of my hood yesterday!, and i havent got any touch up paint in 24a!

You know I think about this every time I fill up the car. (cause the nozzle sort of rests on the cap.

If you take a close look, can we not cut the cord, then hang the cap on the inside of the fuel cap door while we fill? It looks like it's built for it (U-shaped hanger on the inside) but I haven't had the time to try it yet.

somebody try and let me know.

I haven't had trouble with the cap attached, but I'm always very careful witht the hose when I'm filling up anyway. I don't think I'll cut it off because I'm known to be absent-minded. Knowing me, I would leave the cap at the gas station when I drove off. Thanks God my head is attached to my body otherwise I'd lose that too!

i called mazda and played the "welcome kit" card today...i told them i got the kit without the paint(which is tru), and she told me that mp3's didnt get touch up paint, and i told her bulls***!
needless to say, a gift certificate for 24a paint will be here in 2 days! yea.now i get to go deal with my local assholes, i meant dealer.

Yeah, I also think of this every fill. Maybe I'll take the plunge and "cut the cord" as derrick puts it. :)

I believe the Jags have a magnetic piece in the gas flap that neatly holds your cap while you fill it up.

The cord is a good idea, but this one is just too short. Our Volvo has a cord just like this only it's about an inch or two longer. The extra length allows you to move the cap out of the way and hang it on the little door clip.

This short cord annoys me too...can't get the cap outta the way.
