funky white/blue headlights - best bang for the buck?

gotcha...I ordered a pair, $46 or something... I'll let you know how they turn out when they get here... (I didn't see any estimates on shipping?

Actually, I will have a mismatch of OEM, PIAA, and Silverstars so maybe I can get some good comparision photos with the different bulbs.

(it would be way to easy for the to burn out in pairs now wouldn't it?)

I noticed on EBAY a bunch of people selling upgraded wiring harnesses for the P5 headlights when using those higher wattage bulbs. I didn't know it was that necessary, but it could be a good idea.

The 20ga. wire the factory harness comes with is good to over 10A, so it shouldn't really be damaged by aftermarket bulbs.

I've bought and used FX, and XD3 bulbs off EBAY from a seller named Globalpremier. He sells sets for a discount, so for my old Honda I got High, Low and Fogs for $50US. They are definitly bright, and white, and the headlights have lasted 6months. I did have an H3 fog burn out, but it looks like the wiring and increased heat in the small foglight was the problem, not the bulb.

Just thought I'd chime in. I'm definitly saving to get some CATZ HID's or something, but its too bad the fogs are a different light temp than the headlights.

osram (sylvania) cool blues!
all the other cheapies i've tried either blow waayyy to fast, or they melt the plug adapter.
'sides that, my dealership warrantys them for a year - and they're only $50 cdn for a pair.

ok, got the silverstars and have them installed now...

General impressions?

Same color as teh stock bulbs but SIGNIFICANTLY brighter..

They do not have any of the "crystal" or "blue" or ""HID" tint to them at all, so no one is going to know you spent $$$ on your headlights, but they'll still be blinded by them..

Verdict? Two thumbs up. (thumb) (thumb)

Don't waste your time with filament bulbs if you are going for an HID look. Check mine out! These things are f'in cool. I'm never getting a car without these again. Visibility has gone up so much I can't bear to part with them. Mine were 460.00 off ebay. They are the K2 8000k HID's. The good thing is if I ever want to go down to 6000k then I can just order new bulbs, because the color temp is dependent on the composition and proportion of gases inside the bulb. Bulbs are expensive and can get up to 100.00 for a pair but when looking at the PIAA site I'd be happy to pay for that compared to their price gouging. Compared to the PIAA's these will last about 85 days straight or approx. 2000 hours compared to PIAA's sub 100 hours. You do the math and tell me which one will ultimately be cheaper..
As for performance gains in terms of HP. You will get a slight increase with HID's. As wattage is synonimous with power usage a 35W HID bulb will consume less energy than a 55W or 80W bulb. This directly translates to HP gain albeit small ones because what power isn't lost in the bulbs will go to the wheels. Anyway without further ado the picture:

Hell ya! Mine are super white though. The stock bulbs were yellow. Way brighter. Gotta get a set for my high beams next. I've had them for around 5000km and no problems.

Nice, but you need to match up your H3's now - kinda looks odd.

actually I don't really need to... I still have PIAA Xtreme White in the high's... For some reason the Extreme white H7 and 9005 bulbs don't match.. the 9005's are white, and teh H7's are blue..

I still have the H7's for the foglights sitting in teh box from when I ordered the 1st round of headlights. I never use the foglights. both of them have been burned out for about 6 months and I could care less..

I suppose I should get aroudn to fixing that..

Just a heads up. Advance Auto Parts (local store, like Autozone/Pepboys) is having a sale on Slyvania Xtravision, Cool Blue And SilverStar bulbs. Buy one get one 1/2 off. PLUS, there is a $6 rebate on it!

For example the SilverStars go for $19.98 each, so it's $29.97 for a pair, then subtract $6.00 = $23.97 + tax

Link

Got myself 2 pairs :D

Has anyone tried the philips blue vision bulb powerbullbs.com say they are good. Where else can you get them and what are the watts tho.
