Full Size Spare Tire? 2024 CX-5

I just bought a 2024 CX5 upgraded from a 2017 CX5. It looks like it can fit a full size spare. Can anyone confirm this ? Full size spare definitely would not fit in the 2017. Thanks.

I actually bought an OEM wheel from Lexus ES350 for my Mazda 6. The wheel more or less fits into the area where the regular spare is located, but its obviously gonna stick out into the storage space.

One thing I noticed on the 2024 was that the donut spare was a lot bigger than the 2017. The tire well is also noticeably larger. I measured the well as best I could and it "seems" it was redesigned to accommodate a full size spare. Even the depth of the well has been increased. I'll have to remove one of the tires and see if it fits.

Yes. I'm pretty sure at some point it was redesigned to accommodate a full size spare. No bulge on top and everything (carpet/cargo liner) goes back perfectly. One interesting thing I noticed is that on my 2017, the donut spare was only rated to have a 300 mile tread life and was very tiny. The 2024 is rated 3000 miles and is noticeably bigger...

If you can mount and store the exact same size diameter as the rest of the tires you'd be OK. It would probably involve using the same brand and size as what's on the car. You could store it in the rear hatchback area. If not the exact diameter you'll have to get used to seeing the ABS imoji in the cluster due to different rotational speeds. Have no idea what effect a different size tire would have on the drivetrain mechanicals ( AWD and transmission ) but probably not good.

Late to the game, but I can confirm that a 225/65/17 mounted on a factory 17" wheel fits in the spare tire well with the read carpet over it without a bulge as long as its on the level that makes it level with the tailgate and not the lower one that makes it level with the side storage areas.

I don't understand what you are trying to write here.

So in the back there is two levels that the rear floor can be on. One is level with the trim at the bottom of the rear hatch, that is the higher level, and on that puts the floor level with the covers that go over the small pockets on the left and right of the car.

If you are okay with the floor being at the higher level, you can fit a full size spare.

I have said it before, it is really unusual for such a big change like the adjustible height cargo floor so late in the model run.

yeah and because of that all previous cargo mats accessory dont fit well and one needs to buy new one which is 3 parts:)
