So I was in NJ which means I needed to fill up full service. Got home and realized my fuel cap door was open. Figured the attendant who filled me up forgot to close it. But I pushed it closed and it sprung back open. Kept trying...same result. It turns out there's a snap pin that's supposed to keep it in place and the pin gets retracted when you pull the release lever from inside the car. On my vehicle, the pin is pretty corroded and sticks in the retracted position. It is virtually impossible to get the fuel cap door to close. I need to have one person hold it closed while the other pulls and releases the lever from inside the car. This seems to work...until I get something in there to lube the pin.
