A catback will not cause anything to happen really. It's pretty loud but not ridicilous. Check youtube if you want to hear it.

turbo smoking occurs because of bad seals. removing catalytic converters allows you to see if you have a bad turbo or not, because the cats just did a good job of keeping emissions out of the exhaust. this is not removing any cats.
