Front grill bar

Has anyone installed a front grill bar and if so what brand
and how did the installation go? After deer damage I installed a
grill guard on my last vehicle and would like to have one on
the CX9.

They all look pretty donk. if you have a deer in the headlights, speed up and pitch him over. Lower your collision deductible. I've hit 2 deer, none in the CX-9, but i can tell you that unless you can find a shop to fab up something similar to an ARB unit, the bars do more damage to the vehicle than the deer. they tend to fold back onto the vehicle.. don't drive at dusk or dawn. in deer areas here, i hang back and let someone else walk point, semis are good.

I've never seen a pic of one on a CX-9 but I agree that unlike a truck with a full frame, a deer hitting a deer slayer on our car would do all sorts of really bad unibody frame rail damage that the car is not meant to sustain. The inner structure is meant to be hit from the front or the side, so bolting a deerslayer onto it might not be a great idea. But that is just my opinion. To each his own.

I agree, your best option is to either hit the deer straight on or if you have the ability to glance it with a corner, it will usually roll across the hood and over the other side vs going over the car or into the windshield.

NEVER SWERVE FOR A DEER. Not only will you be at fault for not hitting the deer and hitting a tree instead, and not only will your insurance rates go up, but you will hurt yourself and total your car.

i live in open range utah. try hitting a cow at 70. i was shotgun in a 2500 HD. rounded the bend. cow! boom! 700 lbs of flying steak. cows have low center of gravity. buddy had a REAL cow catcher up front. took off the whole front and wrinkled the roof. The moral is when it's your time, it's your time and a stick on bull bar won't make it better. my other buddy hit a full grown bull mooose in a semi, but that's another story.

OK so I have had a couple claims where a customer says a cow jumped out into the highway. Can a cow really jump?

LOL! cows don't really jump. If there's a stampede, the might jump. Cows are really dumb and don't move too quick. If 2 cows were standing in the road and you hit one of them, the other one would just stand there and look at you.

Yeah well believe it or not I have had a few claims where the customer states "I was just driving down the road and the cow came out of nowhere and jumped across the road"
I always fought to find those persons at fault but my managers always forced me to find them not at fault.
But seriously, if you hit a cow driving down a straight road....

the way i see it, if you were driving down a straight road and "all of a sudden"there was a cow then you weren't paying attention. deer are predictable. they go to the same watering hole every day for hundreds of years. twice a day, they get water. if their pattern crosses a road then twice a day they might get hit. Cows graze. they just eat grass. they move slow and follow their mouths. cows jumping like gazelles is just foolishness.

(rlaugh) That's TRUE! Unless the other cow is a bull. (outie)
