Front end noise problem

To keep it short with as many hits/recommendations as possible:

WHAT: A clunk coming from the Driver's side wheel area. Can be felt in the peddle

WHEN: Ive only had it occur while im stopped about to take a right hand turn at a light (or stop sign). As i make the turn and either one of these scenerio's happens, i can hear/feel a loud clunk coming strictly from the wheel area.
A) I go over a water drainage dip in the road (reverse speed hump) thats around the apex of the turn, as i feel the drivers side tire enter into the dip (cant be certain, but most of the time the passengers side may not also be inside the dip) the loud clunk occurs
B) Turning right going downhill from a stop.

Today i had a first also. What happened was while taking a right hand turn around 20-30mph, it felt as though something were sliding between the two front wheels (right to left) followed by a clunk at the left (drivers) wheel.

Any insight? Problem is intermittant and have had 2 failed attempts at getting the dealer to reproduce the problem. Seems to happen as the same spot an average of 3 times a week on the way to work.

Thanks.

last time I heard this, believe it or not, the guys lugs were loose. He didn't notice it until he jacked up the car and tightened them

that's a long shot though

i agree its happened to me before. make sure to check the lugs right away.. my fiance left hers once and we went to shoot pool one night and when we arried home she had one lug left !!!! (shocked) all because she didnt listen to me and tighten them when she got home froim work...

Make the dealer drive in the area it occurs for you.

A friend of mine had issues with his brakes, similar problem you are having. Going around corners he would here a klunk or knock, I believe it was the brake pads, have a look around your brakes.

Thanks for the replies, The lugs should be okay, i'll check them though to eliminate the possibility. I didnt even think of the brakes as being a possibility. My friend has a lift, i'll jack it up and get some eyes under there =).

Forgot to say, car has ~16,100 miles on it.

As of today, the sound happened 4 or so times, these times it was 3x right turn on level ground, and 1x a left turn into a parking lot with one of those entrances where you must go slow or you'll bottom out the front. Sounds made and area's were exactly the same as discribed in the original post. Gonna give mazda a call, before they've mentioned me driving it while a tech sits shotgun so maybe that'll help (I hate working the exact same hours as the local dealerships =(

Thanks once again, if anything pops into mind feel free to let me know =)

Believe it or not, it could be rear klunk related. I know my car will make noises that appear to be coming from the front, middle or rear that are all related to the rear swaybar bushings. As a quick fix try spraying some liquid grease on the two rear swaybar bushings (don't use WD-40 as it is a degreaser, you can by spray grease at Home Depot - Jig-a-Loo "Super Grease" is good for this).
