Fried the BOSE system, melted wires?

Hi, new to the forum... Thanks in advance for your help!

Circumstance & resulting issue:
- Wife had left the lights on and drained battery.
- Someone "helped" to jump, but crossed positive and negative jumper cables. (pissed)
- 20A fuse to BOSE system blew (no other ones affected)
- Stealer replaced fuse, but blew immediately again after inserting.

I am assuming a wire melted when they crossed the jumper cables which is causing a short and keeps blowing the fuse.

Question:
- How can I find out where in the wiring the problem is?
- Am I correct to assume that the short would be between the battery and the fuse, or could it be anywhere?

Thank you!!

Well, it's a safe bet that it's shorted downstream of the fuse, otherwise it wouldn't be blowing. But you could have damage between the fuse and battery as well. You're probably going to need an automotive electrician to take a look at it for you if your not familiar with automotive systems. It's really a good idea to have everything looked over well as you could have some damage beyond the 20 amp fuse to the bose.

I would try to locate a wiring diagram and see what all is on that circuit, beside the Bose system and then try to isolate them and or check for ground/continuity between their connectors and the fuse. That would be a starting point.

Update:

Took the car the a Automotive Electrician. First thing he asked me was if I had gotten a jump from someone. When I said yes, he told me that the amplifier was most likely fried. We took out the rear right panel and exposed the amp. He unplugged it and when we plugged in another fuse, the fuse did not blow anymore. So..., now looking for another Amp.

Does anyone know whether the 2010-2012 Bose Amp would fit the 2008? The model number is slightly different, but that doesn't mean you can't plug and play.
