After going through a bunch of stupid, rather expensive for what they do, air fresheners, I have found the ultimate air freshener for the car>>>Old Spice High Endurance Soap...  "What the hell is he talking about", you say...Wow, does this stuff smell good. I threw a bar (still in the box) under my seat and damn does that car smell good now... :D
And for all of you people saying, well, it'll slide all over under there...put some velcro on the box and the opposing fabric on the underbody of the seat somewhere that isn't in the way, and vuala...no sliding, invisible, great smell :D :D

Man I'm bored tonight.

I agree the trees are kinda expensive. But the vanillaroma in my opinion is the best smell for my car and nose. I buy a tree a week. Ahhhh....... But I do wish they had something that lasts longer and smells the same.

Good idea in the winter, but do you think it will melt- or at least be a little overpowering after sitting in the parking lot for 8 hrs on a 90 degree day?

Its always a possibility...its an ongoing experiment... :D :D I'll let you know how it all turns out.

What about those Japanese squash air fresheners or whatever? I'd like to find a nice air freshener.. but not an insanely overpowering one or anything.. yah know. :o

Bwa ha ha ha. That's the funniest and possibly most effective use for soap I've ever heard of. Mad props for starting this experiment. You should ask people that ride in your car with you what they think. Take a survey, make polls, pie charts, and share your findings with the board. :)

I just may do that,
Again, its going to get warmer, and I'm not sure the soap will "melt" thought it should get pretty crankin'...worse comes to worse, I take it out and my car smells a little too good for a little while...thanks for the suggestion!:D :) :D

I've found those "Super Stone" things you find at walmart, pepboys etc. to work much better than those "stupid lil trees" haha.

They cost like $2 a peice though, but once they wear out.....just drop a lil bit of water in the packet and it'll releash more smell (add too much water and your car will reek so bad you can't breathe).

DO NOT get wildberry....it smells like s***....their vanilla and cool breeze one is good tho

Good Idea with the soap... I use a less expensive method though yours may last longer. ... I use Dryer sheets in my car, under the seats, it offers subtle scent, but smells really clean. They last for like 3-4 weeks.

yea i use a dryer sheet to, and if u really want it to smell good i put it between my radar detector cord and on my air vent then turn on the vents and it really smells good. i will have to try the soap thing. i do like the fresh scent old spice deodorant.

the soap

If you are worried that the soap will melt try going to CVS,Walmart whatever and get one of those plastic soap travel cases. if the soap should melt then it will be safly contained in the case and wont get all over you rug.
;)

an update for anyone that cares.
The smell is still doing really well...
I've kind of gotten used to it, but at least 75% of the people who get into my car for the first time, within the first 5 minutes say, what the hell do you have in here to make it smell so good...females especially...:D
Also, i've been keeping an eye for any "seepage" from the box (soap box:D ) and it looks fine. The temp inside the car has maybe gotten up to 80. The test will be the summer as it comes on...
is this the dumbest topic or what...:D  :p

Sorta off topic, but I was looking around in this Japanese store and I saw cigarrette-flavoured air fresheners!!! Who the hell wants smoke-flavoured air? The Japanese come up with some weird s#$t... I wonder when they'll have rotting fish, smelly socks, or vomit flavours.

Ok, for all of you in the northeast us, you know that its been oddly hot over the past week, up over 90...anyway, the soap is still doing well. I noticed the dryer sheets replies, and I totally use them in my room on the back side of the fan or wherever...If you want to continue with that smell, If you look under the front seats, you'll see the floor vents pointing towards the back...now this is just me thinking as I type, but you could rubber band or tape the dryer sheets over the opening...then whenever you have your floor vents on with the A/c on or whatever, it blows real nice smelling air indirectly (thus not overpowering and invisible) into your car...:D
another rainy sunday afternoon:D

I was thinking.. Some of us may not have access to this soap. Do you think you could maybe sell them online? It would be really neat if you could include the velcro with the box of soap. Maybe we can brand the soap as "the soap for the real mazda enthusiast". I have visions of franchises, large factories, and lots of money.
So, whaddya say?

ding ding ding...

Enry, you just gave me quite an idea...

I'm going to work on this project...When I come back with my "invention"
you won't be amazed, but you just might want to buy one...:D :D
Pictures of the "Emination" *copyright* soon to come...  :D
