Forged internals

The MPI will handle everything a reflash would do and more. I don't believe there are any options for reflashing on the Proteges anyway. Hiboost makes a turbo kit that comes with everything that you would need. The hiboost kit puts down more horsepower than most of the modified mazdaspeeds on the forum. If your looking for big numbers I'm sure he could hook you upwith some different options.

MPI also does turbo kits. I put down 228whp at 8psi with mine. To date that is the highest "kit" numbers for that boost level. Out here in AZ, I have only made it up to 204whp, but now I have it setup the way I did when I did the 228whp, I'll dyno again soon!

MPNick makes the MPI tuner it is a piggyback system that controls both timing and fuel. Do a search on it there are many many threads about it.[/QUOT

The MPI will hold up to my hosepower goals? Will i still need to get my ECU reflashed? Or does it take place of the programing

The MPI will also control extra injectors, read the AFR, data log run dual maps and make alot of power for you. You also will not have any of the drawbacks that are common problems with standalones and big injectors.

If you take a look at the dyno section you will see that all of the top power Protegs on this forum run the MPI Tuner.

what do you mean by alot of power to me? If i run a higher cc injector or just period by installing it will up my hp and I am also guessing that the 585 is for non turbo and 685 is for turbo charged. How much is shipping on that. im pretty sure that i could order it with in a week or so. (not to sound stupid but what are you talking about when you say AFR and dual maps?)

............. maybe you should have someone else installing/tuning this. Please don't take that personally.

But just to educate you AFR stands for Air Fuel Ratio and dual maps means you can flip a switch and run a different engine setup. The MPI will take the signal coming off the car's MAF sensor (at intake), it will modify that signal as defined by the map, and THEN send it to the ECU. Sometimes people want to switch the map really quick for a different setup (like track vs daily driving). I tried to explain that simply. Hope that helps.

BTW I think Nick will get you a decent map to load onto the MPI tuner. A good map can be made from driving the car around and tweaking the values. You can generate a map off dyno data @ WOT, but that is not represenative of what is really happening day to day.

AFR- air to fuel ratio

duel maps-means that you can have 2 AFR/timming setups saved,an example would be one setup for street on pump gas,and another setup for the strip on race gas.

by the way MAM has a fully built short block they sell, and it will hold as much power as you can through at it.cost is $2995.00.they also have internals, considered they best for our cars.tried and true parts.

heres the link http://**************************.com/cart/product_info.php?cPath=23_39&products_id=204

they also sell the MPI,and the AEM stand alone incase you wanted to know about more options.

Hiboost sells the HALTECH,and you can get it with bigger injectors, plug and play, and a base map tuned for bigger injectors.

incase you wanted a standalone(but beware, stand alones can have a lot of headaches)

Yea I want that short block....I wouldn't even want to know how much shipping costs.

dude there is no way that i would try and install that. i'm not even going to try and say yeah i know how to do this this and this because i'll be the first to admit i'm still learning. i know what the air fuel ratio is i just have a hard time somtimes figuring out the Abb. that are said on the forums. oh one more question i have the IHI set up,intercooler,BOV and all that good stuff. could i take a V6 2004 mustang.(193 hp is what it has)

so does that come with all the forged internals and all? if it does then instead of me buying the internals i should just buy that block.

You should easily beat a V6 mustang stock.

well lets do this then im going to buy the MPI. would it be a really good idea to get it before i go run it in maryland on the 15th of MAY. i wnat to have my pulley kit nad the MPI before i do. any suggestions on pulleys? so when i get the MPI will it already come programmed or what will i have to do. how many different setups are there?

That block comes with everything. See the link posted above somewhere.

As far as MPI... Talk to Nick at Modern Performance he is a great guy.

Ask for Nick. In fact he could probably get you pistons, rods, and do the whole deal for you. I don't know if he sells a block though, so you would have to figure out install on your own.

BTW we are all always learning. You will figure out all this stuff as you go along. By the time youe engine is done, and after about 400 posts, you will know alot more....

Nick can do it all. He can get a block for a couple hundred and then do the all the work to it himself, in house. A one stop shop and no shipping if your close.

I wouldn't plan on doing any big trips with the MPI, or any EMS for that matter, until you get it tuned. Take your time and do it right, it would suck if your tune wasn't right and you got stranded a couple hundred miles from home.

not to change the subject but i just found out that im am more thean likely going to have to buy a new trans. 3rd gear locked up on me yesterday and my freind took a look at it and the problem is in the trans. So where do i need to go to get a new one and i figure while i am at it ill just go ahead and get something that will hold up to my hp goals. So will the mazda speed protege trans hold up(2001 ES 2.0,(5speed))? If so how much and where to order.

if you have the money, get the upgraded gears from nick. I'm not sure if they're available yet but give it a try. as far as I know, that is the only place to get them unless you get it yourself which will be waaay more money

You will need clutch, gears, etc for your goals. Just dont slap a MSP tranny in there. Hell it barely holds up with stock boost! Raise your hand if you hate your MSP's tranny.?.?....
*raises hand

sounds like you need to make sure all these new terms are understandable before you sink 3k into your car. (thumb)
