Forge BPV installed, lost boost pressure??? HALP!

No.

The reason for the BPV is to let the turbo keep spinning after you let off the throttle. Then it is still spinning when you get back into it and you get boost sooner.
So in essence one should run the spring with just enough pressure to hold boost?

This is incorrect. With the heavier spring, the valve will be closed more during shifts causing more backpressure to the turbo. The turbo will slow down more and then take more time to spool up after the shift.

Sorry but incorrect. If you're able to shift quick enough you hold boost better while the lighter spring dumps your boost. You put the yellow in and I'll run the blue and we'll see who pulls on who.

My bpv sometimes goes woooooooooossshhpsshshshshshshsh, but then othertimes, it will go wooooooooooooooooooshpiiiiishshshshshshshs. Do I have a boost leak?

Yes...you will hold boost longer during the shift at the expense of damaging the turbo over the long haul.
That pressure you're holding during the shift puts pressure on the turbine.

Sorry but incorrect. Dumping the boost is a good thing because the turbo is still pumping air and when the throttle is opened and the BPV closes, you already have air moving. If the BPV stays closed, your boost pressure may stay up, but there is no air moving and the turbo stalls out. When the throttle opens, the boost will drop waiting for the turbo to start spinning again.

Could be due to the colder weather, too...from what I read, the ECU cuts the boost down when the air gets colder (more dense)

Sorry, but you're both incorrect.

I didn't even read this thread, just noticed the recurring theme.

sounds like a fluttering, i have heard they are happy sounds for a valve in recirculation. My valve sounds similar at partial throttle when i am letting up a bit. Also your Valve may be in heat and looking for a mate. I have a Forge black, if you have an HKS for stud let me know!

I had to bring this outta the trash, but im still not holding as much boost as i can remember....but i have a feeling my boost gauge is going out. It seems like i start spooling 3 notches before 0 Vac...so -3Vac and im already building boost. Those 3 notches are exactly what is missing when im at boost. I see 13 psi one day and 14 psi the next. Pro sport is cheap for a reason..anyone else care to elaborate?

Im tellin you it cant be the Forge cause I tested the hell out of it before I sold it to you. I know for sure it was working properly cause once I put the stocker on, I lost boost. Lame. do you have the amber white electronic gauge, cause thats the one i had. Mine started ready all retarted after a while, and I had to replace it. see if anyone near you has a Dashhawk and borrow it for a quick run. Also, change the yellow spring to the blue spring. the yellow is too soft.

Ummm....i lost the blue spring (nervous) I dont even wanna get into how that happen, but im running the yellow with 2 shims as a blue replacement. All i remember is that it didnt matter what spring i used, so im sure its not the Forge, but im planning on buying a replacement set of springs. I have the amber mechanical gauge and i seriously think its that. I have check all connections to the turbo, intercooler, and even cleaned the MAF and intake filter (Cobb SRI). Which btw, today i saw the stupid bracket broke. So its there somewhat moving around as i drive. Not sure what im going to do about that, but ill figure something out.

This is a little bit off topic on my own thread. I removed the battery cover to see where the broken piece was at. Once i noticed that the bracket had ripped the plastic off, i simply drilled a hole from the location of the "clip" that broke and used a self threading screw to mount it back on. Now i have an awesome connection from the bracket and the cobb sri without any movement from that piece. I should have done a How-To but it seems rather straight forward.

I have seen this phenomenon on my gauge. When it is really cold outside I loose almost 2 PSI due to ECU tuning.
