OK, if you're having the issue where you get a "CLICK-CLICK" after putting it in FWD or REV and moving a little, here's what our dealer did to our CX-9 to fix it:

TECH PERFORMED BULLETIN NO: 02-006/09
XXE1LXRX/.90
TD11-34-380B
82/92A
TECH REPLACED RUBBER MOUNTING

This WORKED. At least for the time being. This repair was made in mid-July, and thus far we remain "click-free," so I'm pretty certain this is the correct fix.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info!! Mine has been clicking/creaking for a while now and it’s been driving me crazy. Last time I went to the dealership, they lubed something, but it didn’t work.

This must be a new TSB 'cause I can't seem to find the details on the web.
What kind of "RUBBER MOUNTING" is that that makes noises when vehicle is rolling?
Suspension mounting, I supposed?

Yeah, I don't know what kind of mounting it was, but it definitely fixed that click-click when you're first starting out in D or R.

Stealth,

Thank you for the info.
It's the shock mounting. I ordered it and will ask my dealer to fix this annoying sound. I took the car to the dealer last week and they replaced some brake caliper bushings and it did not help with the sound. So, hopefully this will cure it.

This post seems kind of useless. What exactly did they replace and do? makes no sense to post this with no real info?

Jason, your useless post about a useless post is almost as useless as my useless post about your useless post about his useless post.

If it is creaking it is most likely a bad strut bearing located under the mount. It's a flat bearing made by SKF. They can tend to get dirt in them, grease dries out and then they stick, thus causing creaking, drifting to one side and so forth.

Ok, here is a parts diagram for the front suspension. Feel free to pic the part numbers out here so we all know what we are talking about. I'm just trying to help stay away from misleading information by injecting some facts.

I don't see anything?
The part I speak of is 34-390
In the parts diagram it just looks like a washer under the upper mount and upper spring cup.

None of the other parts in the front suspension move. The upper mount would not cause creaking. Only the bearing would if it was bad or not aligned properly (not wheel alignment, suspension being not replaced properly). The other reason may be the Strut nut has been torqued on my air torque wrench instead of by HAND! This can cause binding as well.

It's a front upper strut mount. Easy to change if you have spring clamps to keep the strut/spring assembly together when the upper nut is removed.

Cant be the cause of the clicking. The CV joints are the cause of the clicking in forward and reverse. The mount won't cause a clicking sound. I am still researching this but apparently they need to sand something down on the CV joint to stop the clicking, if you can live with it it is harmless. It bugs me but I don't care that much about it to spend time pulling the CV joints off to do this. I am planning on calling Mazda about it.

My 2011 CX-9 GT AWD makes a very annoying creaking/clicking noise as well when accelerating from a standstill or even when accelerating hard while cruising. It is most noticeable in reverse and accelerating hard in reverse. I wonder if this service bulletin will resolve the issue or whether my issue is the strut bump stop greasing... I don't hear the noise on bumps though.

This is an interesting thread. The clicking and/or creaking could be related to either the strut bump stops or the #3 engine mount. I am trying the bump stop fix first because it's a cheap and easy fix, but I suspect that mine is the #3 engine mount.
