Florida weather + CAI????

I recently got my 08 hatch and I am already looking into some mods. I would love to do a CAI but in the summer I drive through some bad rain almost daily which scares me a little. Should I be worried? Which CAI's have the best "angle/position" when it comes to avoiding rain. It seems that the Injen CAI almost is angled up. Or should I just forget it and go SRI( by the way, those of you who went SRI, did you remove the resonator and other stuff by the wheel well- is that really necessary?)
thanks!

You will be fine as long as you don't drive through small lakes. Stick a hydroshield on there and your set.

Im in FL too and ive been through the worst of it.

If I were you I would get an SRI because they are easier to take in / out / clean / cheaper /peace of mind.

yet you use the injen CAI I see lol.. Do you use a hydroshield? and wouldnt that reduce the air flow? To be honest I think I would prefer power in the low-mid range so I am not opposed to a SRI, and if it functions the same without removing the resonator I am even more interested, but from what Ive seen the cost difference isnt very large( Injen intake~250, SRIs ~150-250)

Well if I were in your shoes I would buy the intake and the inlet pipe at the same time. You only have 6 posts so ill assume you are new.

The intake system is composed of 2 parts before it reaches the turbo. The air intake itself which feeds into a tiny little "inlet pipe." To maximize your gains you will wan't to replace both which is simple. The inlet pipe is easier than installing the intake and its nice doing it all at once so you don't have to uninstall and reinstall your intake to squeeze that pipe in. There are "how-to's" here on the forums with step by step / pictures for the install.

That being said its best to use the same company for both intake / inlet for the best possible fitment.

Protege garage seels an SRI + inlet pipe combo for like 150 bucks which is a very nice deal.

As for your resonator question im not sure what your talking about. Both the SRI and CAI install is the same. You still have to open up the wheel well splash guard to access the bolts on the bottom of the stock airbox. Once its out though you can clean your new filter / take out your intake very easily.

I use a hydroshield and no it doesn't slow airflow. Most people use the shields here in florida at least. I have a CAI because when I got the car a 1.5 years ago there were no SRI's available. Then the COBB SRI was released but it was on backorder for like 10 years so i took a CAI.

If you choose CAI I recommend Injen.

thanks for the input... I am new and I do appreciate it... but I should have clarified I dont have a turbo :( I will continue to research SRIs sounds like it may be best for me... I take it you recommend the cobb?

Lol woops my bad. On N/A engines you can get a bypass valve around your intake which is like a buffed up hydroshield.
