Flex-A-Lite Fans Own

Got mine installed last night, (exucse the messy wiring job im redoing that tonight), the fan spins at 1500rpm's over stock, has a 10 blade fan instead of a 4 blade, is slimmer and can still be ran in conjunction with the condernsor fan however my friend is running only the one flex-alite on there protege 5 and it works perfectly.

it was $100 but it was one my friend bought for his focus then never used, i dont think they are over $150 new though

interesting, for some reason i didn't think it would fit our cars. so this is just the fan blade? or the whole assembly? do you have to rig it to work or do they just plug into the stock power connector? any difference in engine temperature? take a pic of the temperature gauge

fal, no it does not fit in stock location. You will have to mount it through the radiator. Looks and works great though.

Temperature is all regulated by the thermostat. A fan isn't going to do any good at all until the thermostat opens. If you want cooler temps, I would replace that first. I would only replace my fans if I actually had overheating issues, or maybe if they promised to be quieter/more efficient.

FAL fans draw less current, and open up a LOT of room. they also move more air, making them..... more efficient!


and t-stat replacement is generally not a good idea unless you are using some kind of forced induction (aftermarket). engines have an optimal operating temp, and messing with that in either direction, cooler or warmer, will affect performance.

That's cool, I was just trying to address YellowMP5's question about cooler engine temps, which should not be affected by a fan. I'm not saying replacing fans is a dumb idea, just don't do it for the purpose of lower temps.

The ecu says this is too hot, the engine needs cooling. the FAL fan then starts and cools off MUCH faster than stock. Once it gets back into X*'s it shuts off. It's easy to see how efficient the fan is at keeping temps in that optimal range by parking next to a runnign car with stock fans. See which one keeps the car in optimal temperatures longer and gets them there faster.

underhood temps are more effective than engine temps, theres a noticable difference in intake air temp with the FAL compared to stock

you'll see better underhood temps with washers between your hood hinges and an EVo-style hood than with the FAL fan alone. All you're doing is moving more hot air around under the hood. Take the frsh air from the backside of the fan and blow it across the motor and get it out of the engine bay and THEN you've really done something.

Wow... Oh, neat! How much did that run you? Plus, it looks like you have a pusher mounted in line with a puller... I'm assuming one switches on for AC cooling, and one for general cooling?

Also, how do you have those wired, out of curiosity? =) Enough questions for you?

i got those pics from protegeclub.com. one of the mods there did that to his car to make room for a supercharger. u should ask him about the setup
