"flashed" by cop, does this mean I'm getting a ticket?

It was after dark, and there was a cop doing radar on the right side of the street, up in the grass. I was speeding a little, but not sure if it was enough to get a ticket. But as I passed, he flicked on a dash spotlight for about a second and then back off. Anyone know what this means? (uhm)

Maybe he just wanted to scare you into slowing down? Or he was going to go after you and then decided to eat another donut instead....

They will do that sometimes just to warn you. Its like I saw you speeding but I am to lazy to pull you over kind of thing.

I hope that's all it was. I was kinda thinking it could be illumination for a camera to record my license plate number

Yeah it's so they scare you into slowing down. DPS here does it all the time with the side light on their roof light bar. I have had them flash me when I wasn't speeding. It's just another one of tose Ghey things cops do so they can assure themselves that they aren't still that kid who got his ass kicked everyday in junior high.

they were just flashing their high-beams lights at you; for you to slow down. You dont have to worry about a camera catching your plate, if you were going to get a ticket then they would have went after you.

he flicked on a dash spotlight for about a second

hm,that's the usual way they do it here in germany... making a foto of you with your current speed ... then you get a ticket a few weeks later...

A manual flicker of his light was a "slow down".
The car mounted camara would have a distinct flash if it went off.

Yeah, a few years ago driving with my dad, we were doing like 120 down an 80 back road, a cop had some guy pulled over, and as we passed and realized it was a cop he flashed us. Which caused my dad to speed up, take a few quick turns, and continue on going 120 downa different 80 zone. oh well. Take it as a warning, and feel lucky you didn't get a ticket.

So your dad ran from the police doing 120mph through turns with you in the car? Sounds good I wish my dad endangered my life and others on the road by driving 40mph over the speed limit.

They do that all the time here in MD. Don't sweat it. It's basically a "you see me" and "I see you" kind of thing.

I dunno, if it was a clear flash of light from the dash it was a radar camera. If it was one of the spotlights (pillar or roof mounted), it was a warning.

They have a guy in an umarked, street appearance (chrome trim, alloy wheels) vic on the side of rt.50 every day when I go home taking pictures. Haven't gotten a ticket yet....

Has anyone been on a ride-along with an officer and seen how much paperwork (redtape) that they have to do?? Holy crap! I feel sorry for them sometimes. Getting flashed means that if he wasn't so busy writing up reports he'd own your a$$ right now. Slow down and be safe.

Warnings are wonderful bro, just thank your lucky ass he only gave you that. I'm from vegas and one time on a trip to Cali a cop came up on me with his red and blues on, followed me over to the right then zoomed up beside me and yelled at me to slow down. Talk about lucky, almost s*** my pants when he let me go. Coolest cop in the world right there. Talk about doing the speedlimit all the way home. DAMN. Sometimes we get lucky, sometimes we just have to run.....NO DON"T DO THAT.

Anyway, nice to know you didn't get a ticket.

It wasn't a flash of light, it was a light mounted probably inside on the a-pillar or something, and it was on for about a second.

BTW, this was on Shady Grove at Epsilon (one street east of Midcounty Hwy) if you're ever on that part of the road, be careful. I have a habit of speeding down that section. Not anymore!

Thanks for the comments guys. I feel a bit better.
