Flash Tuning the CX-9

Hey there sp23mayhem,
Thanks for the link. It will be great if there was a franchise PIASINI company operating in Middle East. Unfortunately, the HQ is in Europe and Asia being a franchise company. This is way to far from me. Being and Expatriate car modification enthuaist living in Middle East is not a bonus. Oh well, just have to be patience....Thanks again

hi there semrz1
there is a way around it, you cand send your ecu to Italy. Providing you can do without your car for a bit of time. An Ms3 in here in Australia was done over the phone (Melbourne-Brisbane) but the guy had some equipment and was able to flash it himself.

hello sp23mayhem,
I wish I can do that but unfortunately this is my only transport for the family. I might hand carry the ecu to Malaysia during my vacation in 4 months time. Thank you for your feedback.

I"ve contacted piasini from italy.. he told me to take picture of my ECU and send him the pictures, to see if he has the firmware the can flash the ecu and reprogram it to have a better performance and lift the speed limit and overspeed beep that i'm trying to do from the first day I bought this great car... the thing is i'm not familiarly where to find the ECU and how to get it out of the car.. I wish, Really WISH, if someone from this forum could do that and post the pictures and leave the rest to me.. I'll do what ever it takes to get it done..

like mentioned above piasini website it

ILtry and find out where it is for you blueyo, by any chance is it next to the battery box in its own compartment?

sp23mayhem Thanks for your interest.. I guess its next to the battery but you can see it, your have to take out the battery you'll find it under the battery that what i understood from piasini.. let us work hard to find the ECU and take pictures of it.

Ecu Locate

Blueyo,
Have you managed to locate the ecu? If not, it is next to the brake pedal behind a plastic black cover panel. You need to unscrew one lock before removing the panel, and also, you need to unclip the door side step panel. I managed to remove them but then my digital camera fell and broke. You need to unclip all the connecter of the wiring from the ECU if you wish to take out the ECU ffrom the holder. Make sue you mark each connector so you remember where to clip back. Good luck.

Cool thanks semrz1, I'll let you know what happens after i remove the ecu.. I'll keep you updated

thanks again for the help

Blueyo, Mustang Girl & Qatari CX9,
Just out of curiousity, did you manage to remove the speed alarm? If yes, how did you get it off. Thanks

what is with people and Cold air intakes? you guys realize most mazdas have variable intake manifold runner control, swirl valves with act as superchargers in yoru intake, varibale air duct control which actually opes the bottom of the air box for more air flow, to be honest, put some exhaust on it, put a k&n filter in it, and come up with a way to change vvt timing at different throttle positions. CX9s are very top heavy because of the wheelbase front to rear and i dont think they shoudl be driven at high speeds

Hello TRXSand..,
I assumed you are a Mazda Technician base on what you posted in different sub-forum. Maybe you can help us how to get rid of the speed alarm. I've drove cars that do emit alarm at 120km/h but none of them has sound as annoyance as CX-9 for ME spec. Open to constructive feedback. Thanks

I will be in Italy around July, so I am game for helping out.

Dear All,
i would like to know if someone manged to do it after all. i found that the CX-9 uses a ford ECU if that can help.

3.7L V6
305 HP 280 lb-ft TORQUE
Yep, Ford "flash tuned" the EDGE .......LOL
Wouldn`t that be nice for the cx-9?

If that the engine that will be on 2011 Edge and Mustang (as base engine)?
I wonder if it is DI. (direct injection)

I don't see much point. The CX-7 sees easy improvement because it is turbocharged, my other car is turbocharged and sees a big improvement from a tuned ECU, but I highly doubt you would get much out of an NA engine from ECU tuning alone.
