So I knew it was a bad idea, but i let my dad drive my car and i'msitting in the passenger seat, and he procedes to parallel park, and curb my BRAND NEW rims! :wtf: Now I have a few gashes in the sides, and don't know what to do. Does anyone know if this can be fixed or am i screwed?

are they a chrome rim or a silver rim. if they are silver you can fill in the marks with a filler like spot puty. sand them smooth and repaint silver. if they are chrome they will need to be sent out

Silver finish similar to the stock P5 and ES sedan rims. Can I paint them myself without it looking like crap?
and what about the finish, can i just clearcoat it and call it good?
Details pleeeeeze!

depends on how bad the gashes are......

i curbed a set of 18" konigs one time and took them into a local wheel shop. after they straightened the wheels they had to grind the lip down to the level of the gashes and then repolish em. they looked like new from about 3 ft away but any closer and u could tell the finish just wasnt right. also alot of rims have very fine machining grooves on the lip and the repair will remove all of that if the gash if deep enough

my thought.....go price new rims and send your dad the bill

Its not real bad, i could get 1 new rim i suppose, but sorta want to avoid that if possible.
Where the orange is on the rim is where mine got curbed, nbot terribly bad, but noticable.

OMG are you serious?! You finally got your rims and now they're phocked! I feel so bad for you. I've been so careful with curbs because the rims are so close to the street and the tires don't have the protective lip like the stock dunlops had.

Yeah, and my dads a moron, he curbed my stock ones too when he was driving it around, you'd think he'd learn, but thats asking a lot isn't it
Anyone esle with solutions!?

Nate you rule. I owe you one. :D I'm going to get putty tonight, and some wheel paint as soon as i figure out where to find it.
Did i mention you are a lifesaver?

kill ur dad or tell him to pay u one BILLLLLION $$$. and when/where did this happen?
also a word of advice...DONT LET UR DAD DRIVE UR CAR ANYMORE

Good luck with the repair, Zoom. Definitely make your dad pay for the supplies. At least.

Since you guys are talking about the wheel repair, when you get the paint can you tell me if it's the same for all rims? I have stock rims and just recently scratched them like an IDIOT when cleaning and rotating them.

Its sorta trial and error with the cans of paint. I had to buy 3 different kinds before i got a similar color. Go to the Auto store, buy a can, go home and test it, if it doesn't look right, then clean off the nozzle, put the cap back on, and go exchange it for a different can :D

But is it a specific can made to match the rims? Or is it just a silver spray paint that you buy?

Its specific "wheel paint" that comes in silver, different cans end up being different shades when they dry. Many are stated to be "OEM color" but alot of oem rims are different colors, so go check them out and see for yourself :D
