Fixing frequently foggy-looking rear camera

Wondering if there is a way to get a crystal-clear backup camera for a 2016.5 Mazda CX-5.

My CX-5's backup camera is usually very clear. But whenever it's a bit cooler, particularly if there is a lot of humidity, the view is foggy and almost "staticky" (like the 'snow' on the old tube television sets). I'm looking for options.

I'm assuming it's the camera device itself that's to blame for this. Either not sufficiently protected against moisture, or whatever. (Though, that's a complete wild guess.) Isn't improved by gently wiping the lens clear of any moisture. On cold and low-humidity mornings, the view is almost always crystal-clear. Much prefer a device that would fit in the standard factory spot.

Questions:

1. Has Mazda significantly upgraded its camera devices, and would such a device successfully work on this 2016.5 CX-5?

2. Or, are there other makers' after-market camera devices that would fit in the same spot but with a clarity that's vastly clearer and sharper?

Has anyone had this problem with the original factory rear camera, where swapping-in a new factory camera corrected the issue?

Since they are pricey little units, I seriously don't want to do a factory replacement if it's just going to exhibit much the same problem under some conditions. Would prefer a vastly-improved, clearer picture ... in all conditions. But I am unfamiliar with CX-5 owners' experiences with this.
