(band) hey guys, just found out that my wife got me cobb sri and forge bpv !!! it should be arriving tommorow and i never really thought of modding this car, but now i have no choice (eekdance)

this is my first time putting on a bpv, so any advice would be great. neways, is the bpv plug and play ? do i have to grease the thing ?
also, will this mod be loud ? will cops pull me over for having a loud vehicle ;)

thx !(usa)

Dang, I need a wife that'll buy me mods!

Both BPV and SRI are relatively easy mods. Good instructions with both, and you only need basic tools. They won't cause the car to be louder in general, but you're sure gonna hear the "C-3PO sneeze" when you shift while boosting. (I have the same mods)

I got my BPV used, and it didn't appear to need any lubrication. Don't know if they come lubed from the factory.

It does come lubed from the factory. But it is consider a wear item and does need regular maintenance. I check mine every oil change or so. If you need more grease, you can pick up a tube of the mobile 1 axel grease in a tube and that will last you forever. While re-lubing the forge...inspect all the o-rings (4 total) for cuts, tears, and flatspots. This will make sure your Forge is in tip top shape.

I just rebuilt mine and it was totally worth it. You can get the rebuild kit for $10 form www.forgemotorsport.com

Flipstylex... both mods are very simple to install. You should have no troubles with either of them.

tool's needed:

10mm wrench
10,12mm socket setup
screwdriver
pliers

Good luck and enjoy the increased sound and power of your MS3

Congrats, thats a good combo of mods. I wish I could have resisted the temptation to mod for longer than i did.

I waited about 15 minutes..........I bought a lot of stuff before i got delivery of the car....spent the first 2 weeks on jack stands.....it has never been unmodified

+1 to the wife. BPV is plug and play. Takes like 2 minutes to put on. Mine was greased when I got it. I regrease it about once every oil change. You will probably have to play with the shims / springs to find the setup that works best for you.

thx for reply guys,

Believe it or not, my wife is the one who picked the ms3 for me 2 years ago !!!

i'm a honda fanboy, and wanted an si, then when she told me the ms3 is turbo, heck with it , i picked the mazda.....

im excited now, im still waiting for the parts, i hope i get it tomorrow !!!
she said she got it from protegegarage,

o if ken is around from pg, my wife said thx for helping her out with the availability of the products ! :)

Use the Blue spring to start with and add a shim or two as you add more power mods. Be careful screwing it in, the cold pipe it screws into is very soft metal and you can easily strip the hole, I did. Your going to here alot of sucking sound with the stock turbo inlet but if you get the cobb silicone inlet most of that will go away. Tighten the clamp on the stock turbo inlet where it connects to the turbo while you have everything apart, it comes loose from the factory and can mess with your fuel trims.

OP: Lucky dude! For many reasons, but man, a wife that undertands your modding need too. Amazing.

Say, could you loan her out for a while? Promise I won't touch her (she wouldn't let an old dude like me, anyway). I just want her to teach my wife how to do that. Promise to return her safe and sound after the order arrives. lol.

hey cosmic, where does the shim go, in the bottom or top of the spring ?, and if i add two, do the shims go together in the botom and top, and spring in the middle ?

sorry, first time with this bpv stuff ;)

Shims go in the bottom under the spring and the two would go together in the bottom.

You will notice a difference in power with the intake and the Forge is much better at holding boost than the stocker, which is prone to leaking.

You should be able to break into the high 13's now.

I have gone back and forth between the yellow and blue springs (both with one shim) and I have found the car drives a lot smoother with yellow spring. Just my thoughts with about 3months on both springs.

This is correct.

My car is smoother with just the blue spring but performs better with the two shims added. Thats why I recommended to start with just the blue spring as Forge suggests.
