Oh yeaaahhh, got the new speed3 CAI. Just arrived. Haven't installed it yet, they wanted 285 for installation. Oh come now.... thats aprox 300/hour fee. So anyway out the door price was aprox 360 for those who are interested. No way was I going to spend that money for a simple installation...the piece comes with easily to understand installation instructions.... god knows the techs at Mazda have never done this before so why let them test their skill out on my new car. Not going to void my warranty either. Look I am not in the market to spend time installing an aftermarket piece and then have to take it apart when I need to get my vehicle maintained. Got to love Norco Mazda.... first Mazda approved CAI in southern Calianyone want to purchase a stock airbox???

There is the big catch. There is a very gray area surrounding what can be attributed to your modification or not. Let's say you install the CAI and then 2 weeks later your turbo blows. You take it to Mazda, but the dealer claims the installation wasn't done to "Mazda certified specs" They could claim all sorts of computer diagnostics are done first...blah...blah...blah. You can challenge that, and under the law, the dealer has to show that your mod caused the problem. Keep in mind the dealers can be VERY creative in showing that you didn't do it 100% perfectly. (Not that they would have done any better...just saying.) At that point, you could take them to court and try to get them to fix the turbo. That may not be worth it to you depending on lawyer / court costs.
If 2 weeks later, your windows don't roll down anymore, they would fix it without question because there is no way the dealer could attribute your CAI installation to power window issues. This is where most people get confused. Adding mods to cars doesn't AUTOMATICALLY void the warranty, and certainly doesn't void it across the entire car, however if a dealer can show with reasonable certainty that your mod probably caused (or in some cases could have caused) the problem, you are screwed.
I have been through this before with Infiniti and Toyota and I can tell you that most dealers will look for ANYTHING to avoid honoring expensive warranty replacement parts.

yeah but if you recirc the BOV there shouldn't be any noise and besides VTA is not a good thing on a MS3... or any car that runs with MAF...runs very rich unless you change your MAF to ..well I can't remember something else and I'm not going that far. I don't know much about all this but you don't want to loose metered air.

The MS3 CAI gives you a cool, subtle BOV sound without actually losing the bypassed airflow. The tubing and acousticaly open cone air fliter just let you hear the pressure release. Believe me, the gains are worth it! I can feel the difference with the MS CAI; it's noticeably stronger now and seems to have more torque at lower RPMS.
