2000 Protege SE
Hello Everyone,
First I'd like to say "hi!". I've been lurking here for awhile and have found some great information on these forums. I have recently purchased a 2000 Protege SE 1.6 (it's a bit of an odd one as it has a sunroof and a spoiler but manual locks and windows).

My questions is this:

On the passenger's side of the engine bay there is a small "spigot" protruding from the firewall. I recently noticed water draining from it. I was wondering if indeed it is simply a drain or is it something else? You can view an image of it here:

Thanks in advanced for any insight!!

(Edit: Changed "SE" from "ES".)

honestly i have no idea what it is, it sure looks like a drain to me, possibly from the catches at the base of the windshield?

also, an ES with a 1.6, no pw/pl, and no sunroof...sounds to me like an lx or dx... i dunno but welcome to the forums!

Welcome to the forums!

It's probably a drain for the ventilation system, doesn't look like anything to worry about.

My question for you is.. how the heck does a 2000 have an engine bay that clean??

Hehe, the previous owner was a little old lady. The car only had 89 000 Kms!! (55 000 miles).

Thanks for the reply, I wasn't too worried about it as only water is coming out and it has been raining lately. I guess some water sits there and only comes out when the car has been moving around.

Probably, since the ventilation system takes it's air in between the hood and windshield, where the wipers are, so water easily gets in there when it rains.

Welcome to the forums.

Since you are from Canada, and judging by your cars specs I would definately say that you have a 2000 Protege SE model. In Canada some of the SE models came with a sunroof and a rear spoiler. The ES model would have came with all the goodies (power locks/windows, cruise, etc.).

Aha, you are correct. It is SE and not ES.
