Hi all,
My wife and I bought our first Mazda on Monday, a 2010 CX-9 with under 8k miles on it. It's a Touring, but does not have the 120v inverter in the back. Our old car (will be for sale soon), a 2003 Pontiac Vibe, came with a 100W socket built right into the dash. This thing is indispensible for charging various devices, and it's permanence (as opposed to a plug-in model) is desired.
I had a JK Wrangler before I got my Mini Cooper S and had a 3000W inverter wired beneath the driver seat, with the power switch and a couple of sockets mounted remotely in the console (via 4ga cable right from the battery clamp).
I'm no stranger to car electrical, but I'm a stranger to this car. I need:
A place to put the socket. I can't find any. I can have a panel made to fit anywhere..but need a place FOR the panel.
A place to mount the inverter itself. I bought a 300W RockfordFosgate one that's roughly 8x2x5.
I'd prefer to have the socket accessible to front passengers, or maybe to the 2nd row. I can't find much use for a socket all the way in the trunk like the factory option.
Ideas? There have to be a few nooks and crannies with decent air circulation that I can mount this thing, with a path to run some thick jacketed cable from the engine compartment....
