Took of work early and had my oil changed with Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20, and had them cut out my secondary cat & resonator...

I also have the "ebay" axle back muffler section.

Its definitely got more rumble, its a little raspy past 4k rpms so that going to take a little bit getting used to. But I'm happy... Butt dyno says its got more low end lol

I would think the less back pressure would be less low end and more high end? Thats if i'm not having a blonde moment and speaking out of the ole brown eye.

Haha where'd you get it done?
Every time I tried to get mine cut out the local shops throw huge fits about it.

less backpresure = quicker throttle response more low end grunt ,but usually loses in top end..generally speaking ofcoarse

Nice. What was the dyno's output?

Not sure lol... There is a local shop that I plan on having it done at but I want to wait till I get my intake.

I was reading a lot of posts earlier today and apparently the exhaust side of this engine in the most restrictive part. So that is where I figured I'd start "modding". I plan on getting Andres header but it $$ so its going to have to wait a little while haha

Yeah shops are always "if-y" about messing with cat's and such. Fortunately this shop works on all our family's cars and my Dad has known the owner for decades. So they really don't question what we want done. The place is called Stuart Rolfe Muffler but it's a full service shop.

Thanks for all the comments. Next up is a seat from Font! and either the Injen or Corksport Intake.

i would say on stock pipe. the straighter the better low and top gain. (good velocity no BP)
and i would say it would get better the higher the diameter until you go past 2''.

but i dont know anything. but i did stay at a holiday inn express.

I'm not really building this thing for speed lol, I mean it's a Mazda 2 c'mon. If we wanted speed we'd go buy a speed3 or something along those lines. I bought ir for the fuel economy and cheaper maintenance. I plan on doing some basic bolt ons but I REALLY want this thing to handle. Next thing is a better seat, I hate the stock ones. Then intake, cs rear torsion bar, and some kind of strut tower bar

my local shop didnt mind. i asked (this being after already having had them take off the resonator and throw on my ebay fart can) if i could get a high flow cat for the 2nd unmonitored one. andhe was like why not take it off. unmonitoreds are just resonators. so i was like f*ck it lets go straight all the way.

let this be a lesson to everyone on how to punctuate informative thoughts
