First (and hopefully last) accident in my mazdaspeed

Not sure if it's considered "my fault" yet. Still waiting for a claims adjuster to call on Monday after she reviews the situation. I was in a parking lot (one of those ones I hate that has one way rows and forces you to park at an angle and consequently back out of the space on an angle). As I'm backing out, I start to straighten the car to pull forward and BOOM!. The rear end of a Nissan SUV hits my driver's side door. Turns out she backed out of the space across the way and just ahead of me so her rear bumper hit and pushed in the metal on my driver's side door.

From what I heard, it should be at her fault since her rear hit my door. However I was ALSO backing out at the same time and I've also heard that if both people are in reverse, it's a "no-fault" accident and you pay for your own repairs. She had the same insurance company as me so there shouldn't be too much of a problem of insurance fighting insurance.

Oh well. Worst case scenario, I have it repaired and repainted and pay my $500 deductable and have my rates go up a bit. Best case, it all gets taken care of by her end of the insurance and no rate hike. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that her rear end hitting my driver's side door is enough to point the finger at her . . .

PS - That's why I always BACK INTO parking spaces. So I can pull forward out of them. And also why, from now on, if I'm forced to pull face forward, I'm parking in the middle of nowhere.

Here's the door after the accident. Still driveable, but window won't go down cause it rubs and stops against the side. I'll update next week when I get my response from the insurance as to whether I have to pay, and whose fault it was (50/50, no-fault, her fault, etc)

Wow thats nasty. Sorry about the damage. That makes me feel depressed just looking at it even though it's not my car. Hope you can get things worked out in your favor. (cryhard)

Man, that's depressing. Sorry that happened to you! You should list those pictures as "NSFW" =(.
